Fuel Pump Install

Recently purchased and had a Walbro (255) fuel pump installed in my 92 Typhoon by my mechanic. After installation, the truck wouldn't start. Mechanic discovered the plugs were loaded with fuel and all had to be replaced. Put the stock fuel pump back in and the truck started with no problem. Question...with a Walbro fuel pump do I need to have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a stock setup or is my problem the pulsator...any help would be appreciated

Re: Fuel Pump Install

walbro pump was the first thing i did, original pump went out 2 weeks after getting truck. stuffed a new pump and nothing else, fired right up and ran fine. dont know about the pulsator , left mine out...... i think walbro tells you to leave it out dont they ?

Re: Fuel Pump Install

I had to get one for my walbro. I couldnt get the baseline fuel pressure under 49 psi with a new stock regulator. Made a huge difference in performance. Even with the stock regulator it always started, so Im not sure. Check your baseline fuel pressure (vacuum line removed from regulator and plugged) it should be around 42psi on idle. turbotime has a real nice AFPR
