Re: Gas in my oil
"did you re-install the pulsator during the FP swap??"
I swapped the fuel pump for the whole kit that RPM sells and also a new sending unit because the line coming out of it twisted when taking it apart. What do you mean by the pulsator?
"What chip do you have? It shows that you have 42lb injectors. There is no 42lb chip that I can think of. There was a 40lb atr chip... But not a 42... Plus with the fuel pressure dropping immediately there is an injector stuck open or your fuel pressure regulator is bad or your new fuel pump has a bad check valve..."
I do not have the injectors installed yet, I bought a rail for my other motor that has these injectors in it along with a AFPR that I was going to swap into this truck. I was just trying to get an idea if this was a good idea or not.
"Have you checked to see if there is any liquid gas in the vac signal hose for the FPR ? If there is....bad FPR diaphram."
Yes I pulled the line from the top of the FPR and there was no gas in it and nothing came out of the top of the FPR with the line off and the truck running.
"Does the vehicle idle smooth? Other than the hesitation are there other driveablity issues? if it doesnt run smooth then my guess would also be leaning toward injectors. If you can disconnect the vac line to the fpr and plug the fuel rail suppy with a special plug used when cleaning the injectors and pressureize the rail via shrader valve it should hold pressure. Dont pressurize it too much though. If it doesnt hold pressure then you KNOW its the injectors.... well it could be the fpr too unless you plugged the return line also. Just a thought.
Respectfully,
Tom "
The truck runs and idles pretty smooth it sometimes bounces up and down but not to bad but the FPR is new on the truck and I tested to see if the diaphram was good on it and it seems to be.
"With FP answered... per Mike (above) sounds like the check valve is toast (rail losing pressure really fast), Id get that fixed first (Shouldn't be related, but...). From there, if it were me I'd pull the injectors for clean/check (piece of mind, plus proof they're good when you upgrade (and sell)). AFPR, & WBO2 would be the next things I threw at it."
Where is this check valve that is being talked about and how do I replace it?
Also for my next question, why would I take and clean these injectors and then go and replace them later when I can do it all in one shot and solve the problem that way? And should I not use a 42# injector is there no chip for it to be used with? Thanks again guys I am new to this and just trying to get her figured out. Thanks for being patient with me and not a mechanic but enjoying working on my truck.
