I'm looking to by a typhoon, but I'm in college.

What are the stock gas mileage ratings?

and what can I do to help it out. I know you can buy chips that can switch to economy(hypertech)......

Basically whats the best I can get out of it?

1. I vote ban him cause he mentioned the Hyperjunk chip

2. If you need to ask how the gas mileage is to help weigh the option of buying a SyTy then you AREN'T ready to own one

3. Gas mileage sucks cause usually one just can't keep from getting into boost

4. Usually between 15-20.......20 being the exception, usually.

Life is beter at 25 PSI
I get about 12.8-13.5 around town. I'm the type of driver that keeps the turbo spooled up about the whole time.

I usually get 13-14mpg around town and 16-17mpg on the highway. If I keep my foot off the gas and keep out of the boost, i can get 15 and 18.5mpg respectively (my best so far is 18.9mpg per a tank) Aka The gas mileage sucks and our truck require the best grade of gasoline available, (I use only 94). You probably want to look else where if this is a concern....

i usually get 20mpg highway w/ TE52 turbo, built trans and 2800 stall converter. I can get anywhere from 13 - 16mph city.

When it was stock I could get 22mpg highway and 15 - 17 city, but I think im one of those "exceptions"

I drove my Sy back from San Francisco to Phoenix and got 20 to 21 mpg on the highway with no toneau cover, drive it around the city nicely and get around 14 to 16, but really get on it good and you can just about watch the gauge drop. Still not half as bad as the 5.9 R/t which got about 13 - 14 on the highway.

But all in all my advise to you is wait till you get out of school till you think about one of these. Trust me, I now have a full time job, go to school full time, and the rest of my time I spend working on my truck that I planned on being my daily driver. These vehicles are a full time job in their self.

Lots of luck

appreciate the help from a few of you.

my vehicle requires 94 octane right now so I'm used to it. I probably will finish my turbo project on that car and sell it. Then look at a typhoon.

Everyone else, I'd like to address by :fist: . and accept the new guy hazing.

I've been watching the classifieds for about 6 monthes now and I just finally became a member. My college costs more than a really nice typhoon per semester and I'm fairing pretty well. I'll just have to give up eating. :)

How big is the tank?

if you've ever had to mess with the fuel pump (in the middle of Advance Auto parking lot) it feels like the size of the Grand Canyon

GALLONS????!?!?!?!

ed hess

race or get outta the way
put it this way.

I go to the track

turn off street tank pump

turn on fuel cell pump

moves pressure and return valves

fuel cell holds 5 gallons

make 3 runs

I have 2 gallons in the cell.

so 1/4 mile down the track
plus 1/4 mile back on the return road gives me

1/2 mpg racing! hows that sound :D

Probably try to lean it out a bit after the dfi and wb02 goes in. :D

LMAO

I knew what the auto reviews said the gas mileage was. I was just wondering if some modifications would push the mileage to something in the 20 to 25 range. My bro gets 13-14 on the highway in his camaro........that sux....

one more thing..... $60 a week? how far do you drive in a day?

Driving it to work every day i get 14.6 mpg.

of course this is keeping your foot out of it.

Then again yours is modified and highly tuned for a 1/4 mile run.
Are you injectors stock?

My interest (for the near future, not long term) is in the ability of a really nice looking suv that can waste pretty much anything of the line (STOCK). Yet it still has room to fit stuff in the back. If trans am's had more room I'd prolly be looking into those right now.
