GAST Meet (Fall '04) - RECAP!!!

Alright guys, it's time for another Georgia get-together. The Spring meet was nice although there were only a few of us.....hopefully this time more of the gang can get together. Here's the tentative schedule:

Date: October/Novemeber (Fri & Sat)
Where: Savannah, GA

Plan: We'll all meet up Friday afternoon and go out to eat (Hooters, Shell House, etc...), then we'll head to the track for Import vs Domestic night (7:00pm until 3:00am). The track should be ideal as the fall weather will have moved in and we run at night on Fridays in Savannah. This was the problem with Reynolds this Spring (the HEAT)......hopefully this will not be a problem in the fall. Following the track, we'll all crash at my place or find somewhere (TBD) to sleep. If some of you need to head back Friday night, that's cool. Saturday....we'll do some wrenching and go catch some lunch. If some of you want to check out Riverstreet or some of the local attractions, we can do that. Then, the track reopens at 3:00pm for time trials (until 7:00pm IIRC). We can head there if you guys wish.

Anywho, that's what I have in my head for us to do. This is very open for discussion, so give your input. I threw those dates up there, but if they need to be moved (weather, track availability, personal conflicts, etc....), we can reschedule. You guys chew on this and let me know if it looks like you might be able to make it. I know it's very early, but a lack of preplanning has killed us in the past, and I don't want this meet to be a bust.

TIA

Put down dubb and I if you do allow any Yanks. We might take the TTA if my parts get here soon  But it'll probably be an F250 with some sort of experimental engine in it....

Jerry.....nice try on the accent, but it's "ya'll"......

Hell yeah, ya'll (<----see that) are welcome. I told Dubb some time ago that ya'll (<----another one) can come crash at my place ANYTIME. If you guys do come down, plan to stay for 3-4 days. It sucked when I couldn't stay at yer place longer last time.

BTW, I should have the rest of the TTA parts real soon.......and screw driving an F250, drive the 3 wheeled cart of terror down from Navistar. :D

I'm there this time FOR SURE. No more Nascar races for me this year. And that will give me time to get my LF half shaft in and hopefully get the Ty tuned in and running sweeet. Keep us updated on any news.

HARRRR!!!
Mike,

We should be able to hang there for a couple days. When time comes closer I'll have a better idea of what days I can get off work. I'll e-mail ya the details later.

Just busting your chops on the parts. You're going beyond the duty as a supplier (as usual). Appreciate your help.

We were thinking of taking the cart of DOOM from the plant. BW and I were going to try to set a record....longest distance on two wheels in a three-wheeled cart named YYYJGM6 with a Warsowski's catalog stapled to the bumper.... but figured Green will need something when his Del Sol breaks down. :)

Pencil me in.

(Please God, let the damn truck work this time.)

Just finished putting Mr. Waller's block in. Got to tune her and a few other things. If she breaks this one, I will be contacting Mr. Hood in reference to a few blasting caps.

Pencil me in as well. I'll do my best to be there. Sorry I haven't made it to any of the GAST events yet but I keep getting sent on these annoying business trips to Iraq. If anyone is interested in a trip to the new track in Cecil (just north of Valdosta) in the upcoming weeks, let me know. It's supposed to be a top notch facility....

Hi guy,
I'm an old Valdosta Boy. Born and raised there. I'll be coming down to Valdosta in a few weeks. May drive the Syclone down.

Maybe we can set up a mini GAST track session over at Cecil. I haven't visited there yet but I've spoken with some Lightning guys I work with and they have nothing but good things to say about the place. I may be able to round up Chris Lee and his Syclone as well (also a Valdosta resident)....

Adam..........you guys are more than welcome to attend. Bdubb and Potter may be coming down, so if you guys showed up, it'd be like a mini-NATS. I'll PM you about the GAST meet and about the dyno session in FL.

Jay........check out that track and let us know. Valdosta is a bit of a haul for some of the guys farther North, but it's not bad for guys like me, Scott, Matt, and Jonathon. We may be able to do something there in the Spring.

Cecil, GA Track night Friday 21 July

Cecil, GA Track night Friday 21 July

OK, I'm planning on heading to Cecil this Friday. I should be there (Red and Gray '92 Ty), Tim Crainick (Gray Grand National), and some assorted others (White '01 Lightning, etc.) We should get there around 6:30PM. Anyone else is more than welcome-- please stop by and say Hi if you make it out here... I'll try to get you a good track report. Maybe we could do a little GAST vs. FAST session here sometime since it's kind of on the border. Just a thought for later this Fall or next Spring. Anyway, sorry to get off topic. I'll start a new thread next time. GAST meet in October-- be there!!!!

I know it's still early, but there are a couple of changes............

Date Change.

The weekend of October 16th/17th is no good. Some people have expressed conflicts with this date already, and it would coincide with a lot of the Octoberfest festivities in/around Savannah. Some may see Octoberfest as a bonus, but it could really hinder us if want to see the city or drive around as a group. Pushing the date back works in our favor as well (colder weather, more time to finish up trucks, etc....).

New potential dates:

October 23/24
November 6/7
November 13/14

Let me know what ya'll think about those dates and I'll get with the out-of-towners, track, etc.....and verify availability. We're still gonna stick to our tentative schedule, but just need to push the date back a little.

Also, I'm probably gonna take off 4-5 days around this meet (say Wed-Sun) since we'll have some Chitown guys staying with me. So, if any of you want to come down a few days early and hang out, feel free. There'll be plenty of room, and I'm sure we'll be doing something nearly every night. I've left my cell number @ the bottom, so call me if any of you have questions.

BTW, Alvin.....if you would, contact me privately.
