Well I know I read about this, but can't figure it out.I did a tune up with all ac/delco except plugs. The people at autobonez gave me some autolite 23's.I changes everything but Ign module& fuel filter.Truck was flyin for 2 days.Got up the next morning turn it on idle at 1000.Fuel press gauge went from 30 stock injecters to 25.Rough idle when it settles down know. What's funny is if I jump on it take off hard. But when I get off it,the truck stop at 1500rpm for a minute then goes down.I check for vacuum leaks none found.Pulled the coil wire off, shocked the shit out of myself.

Sorry for the long guestion.Help me please (Before I drive my truck off Hwy 101).

sounds like a problem to me.
use ngk ur6's gapped at 28-30
either that or the cap rotor and make sure all the wires are clean and not burnt. could be a wire hitting the down pipe

Don,I have ran Autolite 23's for the last 8 years. They are NOT the problem.

I ran water across the motor earlier. And got to the EGR and the motor start stalling.Me and my Uncle checked it.It's sucking so much air.So I think I found the leak!

Re: Getting ready to drive my Ty off hwy 101!!!!!!

There's always that fuel filter. And after letting up on it it stays at 1500 for whole minute? Maybe a stuck/dirty IAC.

Re: Getting ready to drive my Ty off hwy 101!!!!!!

Well what a day!I replaced the EGR & IAC valve.Still the same problem, idles at like 900 to 1000 in park.In drive 600 to 700 with a slight miss in park.I can't find a vacuum leak either. What I did find out is that. I could have painted my intake & intercooler.
Guess I can do it when I find the damn problem.I sure need you guys help. This is the wife's daily driver. Now's she's asking for a new BMW 645 I.I'am pissed about the $120 in spent today. And know she wants a Beemer!!!!!!!!!

Re: Getting ready to drive my Ty off hwy 101!!!!!!

OK buy the Bimmer, JK. Anyway take the throttle body off being careful to save the gasket just in case. remove the IAC don't push on the plunger. Check passages and check the hose from the PVC valve, maybe even change the thing. It could be stuck open. Look at the TB and make sure the butterflies are not carboned (sp?) up and are closing competely. Yes completely, the IAC controls air at idle. Check for shaft wear causing a) a leak and b) keeping the butterflies from closing.

Before you do all that can you blip the throttle and get to slow down?

Is the butterfly adjustment screw still sealed or has someone fooled with it trying to adjust the idle?

Another idea; disconnect both the throttle cable and TV cable (to the trans) and see what happens.

Just thinkin' out loud, let us know when you find the trouble.

Or buy the Bimmer...

Well the cap is off my hex screw! So someone must have touched it before. It has a little bend in the bracket.I don't know about codes,no DM for me.I got a Apple G4 laptop, you would think for the money it would work!Still haven't changed coil, ign module or fuel filter. Is there a hand held scan tool I can buy?

Just curious, but what part of the diagnostic trouble tree were you following when you decided to pull off a live coil wire?

You don't need DM to pull codes, just a paper clip

Go ahead and drive it off the 101.I know what the prob is,but since you just ignore my questions,I wish you good luck.

When you finally blow it up and part it out,I got dibs on the front seats,if they are nice.

Sorry about that Jimmy!I haven't got a chance yet to check for codes. My oil is kind of thin, but I can't smell gas in it.Was I suppose to set anything, after I installed egr&iac valve? :(

I think you have a broken diaphram in your FPR.If so,you will get a code 45 and gas in the oil.Internal vac leak as well, which will cause idle flucuations.Plug change got rid of the fouled plugs for a few miles, but it came right back=FPR IMO.

Re: Getting ready to drive my Ty off hwy 101!!!!!!

Ok Jimmy tell me this.I unhooked the neg batt wire for 30 secs. Then plugged it back up.It seems like the idle went down a little.Taching about 650-700.But know when you hit the gas rpm's falls. Is that Afpr or maybe fuel filter?

Another thing is I tried the paper clip thing.I didn't see any numbers though.Check engine light just flashes no numbers.Am I doing something wrong fellas?TIA.... :squint:

Re: Getting ready to drive my Ty off hwy 101!!!!!!

Just flashes? Was the engine running? You should at least flash a code 12 even if there are no other codes present without the engine running.
