Where to begin… only 1 run last night due to rain.
There is a lot left in this as you will see reading on.
For instance this launch was at only 2650 on the rev limiter.
Although boost at launch was 15psi, there is absolutely no tire spin.
Boost on msbc was also set low at only 20. Boost is rock solid.
Raising rpm at launch as well as boost should bring the 60 foot down from the 1.707
I saw last night. Last weeks 60ft was 1.708 so the launch is showing very consistent. I.e. no tire spin.
Obviously the launch has to be turned up to find that point where the tires will break loose and then back it down just a bit for the maximum best launch. Oh and this is not on drag radials.

The tune is almost there but a little rich on the top end.

So what did it run
Temp 56
Relative humidity 71
Absolute baro 28.94

60ft 1.707
330 4.727
1/8 7.300
mph 1/8 94.79
990 9.485
¼ 11.470
mph 116.92

so lets see lower the 60ft to 1.5xx 2 10th savings
loose the 100lb tonneau 1 10th savings
get the richness out of the top end 1 10th savings

looks like a high 10 or at least a low 11 to get me into the top 10 on
hurydes website at the end of all this.

So there ya go.

Hopefully it was worth the wait to all of you.

What happened last week.

I will give you hint, sometimes a variation in your build from the std recipe you read about here
Requires you to think outside the box.
The variation being my recent head work (receiver grooves & flow work) changed my cylinder pressures
From an extremely high 170psi cold to 180psi cold.
Result tr5 and or tr6 plugs don’t work well with higher boost levels.
The other thing is that so often you read here that stock ignition is all you need on these trucks.
Don’t believe it for a minute. Msd box keeps the fire lite a whole lot better.
And you can also forget that crap about .035 plug gaps.

So anyone else running 11.4 while launching at 2650 rpm ?

Guess I can toot my own horn on that note!

toot toot Ed those are some good numbers!!! Yes it was worth the weight.

Ed time to update the sig  Leaving on 15 psi the track you go to must have some good prep.

leaving at 2650 with 15 psi at launch is kinda unheard of here.

this should leave a few scratching their heads wondering how.

who says you have to have a high stall converter to get these trucks to spool up quick. :D

so what plugs do you use?
how much gap?

It ats about time you posted a ET! I wasted my time reading 5 page of garbage in the last thread. I don't see why you could have said my ET sucked because of ingition problems...

Let me guess a 2 step rev limiter and maybe timing retard...

Anyways usually for every .1 off your 60' time is .15-.2 in the 1/4 mile. 1.5 sec 60' isn't so easy to do though, lots of fast sy's do low 1.6's.

The 100lbs per sec rule is a basic generalization. On a 4 cylinder Accord 100lbs may be .2 while a 9 sec car will be definately less than .1 The rule generally hold true around mid 12's, so it probably closer to .09 from your truck (though I supose that is close enough)

THAT WOULDNT HAVE BEEN ANY FUN, NOW WOULD IT!

there was also one more important other gremlin that i have yet to discuss with a vendor.

DFI GEN7 HAS SOME NEAT FEATURES IN IT!

SO I GUESS YOU JUST SAID "yeah take the 100lb cover off and it will get you a 10th" :D

thanks phil

wow

i just looked at these formulas i had been using for caluclating hp from weight and et and it looks like i picked up 84 HP so far from the dfi and combination changes.

Oh and I can get 20 psi at 2700 no problem if I want to but it does better with a little more RPM (3000) and less boost so you may consider that.

Nice run Ed! I guessed it would go 11.3ish,do I win a prize? :D

jimmy

you might!

but i think we may just skip 11.3 and do 11.18 so i can be in the top 10. :D

besides if i do that i not only piss off mad mike but hammerhead too!
well at least leave em in the dust.

now it would be interesting to see how phillip's input effects your times.

If more rpm and less boost would equate to a quicker time. Lots of variables to mess with.

exactly!

its the rpm that moves you off the line. boost just gives you the horsepower to do it.

no doubt higher rpm launch and more boost.....

the beauty of this setup is i just type in the numbers and collect the results via the timeslip.

Well, at least until I can get back to Atco. You know, with NO ignition problems, NO bent pushrods, NO blown head gaskets, and of course, ALL of the planets aligned in perfect harmony! :-?  :D

Hey, it could happen!

Remember Eduardo, the time in my sig was done with a 4# launch(1.67 60'), 15psi into 3rd gear, where I turned it up to 20psi for the rest of the run. All on an UNlocked converter.

Since then I've managed a 1.60 60' with a 5-6# launch - NO wheelspin. Plus I now have my TC locking at the top of 3rd - 73mph. Give me an 8psi launch, and 20psi through the whole run, and 10's shouldn't be a problem IMO.

Anyway, Congrats on your time and hopefully it'll only get better! And, it's about time you posted it!!! :p

Nice run Ed, I think your truck has good potential, but then next 4 tenths are hell, or at least they were for me. Take a look at the difference in mph from 11.50 trucks to 11.0's its usually like 7-9 MPH. Anyhow, buddy up to Phil, or the canadians and your truck will run a 10 tomorrow afternoon.
