Got a strange phone call tonight.

My ass. Look at it.
Re: Got a strange phone call tonight.

All good points and the truck won't be sold unless the money is right. The original owner told me the story of how he sold the truck for a woman, which was the biggest mistake. I will be surprised if he really wants truck back after all of these years. I think that he has memories of the truck when it was new and maybe just wants to re-live some memories of when he was younger. I've had a lot of cars and I have only bought one of them back and it was then I learned that some things are not how you remembered them. I guess we will see on Saturday just how he really feels about it. The more important question is what to buy to replace the Sy if it does go to a new home....

He probably hid a huge bag of cocaine in the truck. Start looking!:crazyeye:

I'd tell the dude to make an offer, and if you want to sell it you might give him a call. You are not obligated to do a damn thing.

Re: Got a strange phone call tonight.

Ya, I'm not sure how bad he wants the truck, but he will have to make it worth my while to sell it back to him. I've spent quite a bit of money on the truck as with any Syclone owner out there and I've just got all of the bugs worked out of it. I was on the fence about even calling the guy, but I understand how he feels about the truck and I'm not really in love with it, so we will see if he really does still love it when he comes down. I've been thinking about a Typhoon or maybe I'll buy another C5, but I'm to a point where I don't really have a great desire to find any certain car besides a GN, the last car on my bucket list. Chances are he won't be a buyer and I won't have to worry about it, but if he does I guess I'll be on the prowl for another toy...

Money talks, bullshit walks. Say I own a car, then I sell it. I sell that car with no encumbrances... the next guy owes me jack shit. I can ask the guy "Hey, if you ever think about selling it, it'd be cool if you'd let me know. Maybe I'll be in a better spot/wealthy/nostalgic/stupid at that time." He can say "sure", or he can say, "just sign the fkking title, and I'm on the road."

Regardless, the only things the original owner owns is dreams and memories. I've had cars I've sold because the needs changed or I grew out of it. Would I want to own them again? Maybe. Would I expect to pay out of the nose for that "privilege"? Yes. We're talking Syclones and Typhoons here... not Dusenbergs.

Want to see someone in a position to own his old car? "Papa" John Schnatter.

Unless the dude offers you money that makes up for your "loss" and "time". Tell the dude to pound sand.

-P

He drives the crap out of that car too. My wife works across the street from the Papa Johns corporate headquarters, and has pointed out the black marks in the pavement from him tearing ass out of the parking lot on a semi-regular basis. He's definitely doing what he can to get his moneys worth out of that car!!

Re: Got a strange phone call tonight.

The Sy to you is just another Sy. There are nice ones still out there for sale so if you can spin a lil' boot and find another in as nice OR nicer condition, do him a favor and let him have it back. Are you obligated to sell it to him; by NO means. Would it be the gentleman thing to do; ONLY if he treats you fair and makes it worth it to you and him.

Re: Got a strange phone call tonight.

I will give the original owner a chance to buy the truck if he wants it and the money is right. I'm not too sure what I really want as I've had about all of the cars that I always wanted that I can afford. I might buy another Corvette if I can find a nice one around for decent money. I'm always looking for something unique that you don't see everyday, but I'm also getting tired of having to work on everything that I buy because of that same fact...

See what his offer is, If its more than you have investing in it, then think about it. DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED to sell it to him if you don't want too. In my life time there were only 2 cars that I have regretted getting rid of. My 1st car and the 1972 Hurst/Olds that I had. I don't know what happen to my 1st car. I do know what happen to the Hurst/Olds and it was sad. The Truck is your now, You only have to sell back to him if you want to.

Re: Got a strange phone call tonight.

Well, it is now official. I am no longer a Syclone owner. It has been sold back to the original owner and I feel good that it went back to a person who obliviously loves the truck more than me. Now the hunt is on for a new toy...

Re: Got a strange phone call tonight.

Well, I made out alright on the deal, but I wouldn't say I made a pocket full of cash. At this point, I am glad that the truck went back to the original owner as he was very happy to get the truck back. He brought pictures of the truck when it was brand new and was so thankful for me letting him buy it back after all these years away from it. He does however want the truck back stock and is going to remove the Waller turbo that I installed on it off and replace it with a stock turbo. The truck to me was nothing special, just another Syclone, but to him it was truly special..
