I ran datamaster and it was running at like 159 degrees. Will a truck without the 160 stat run that cold? Also any way to tell if it has the high pressure pump without taking off the bed and looking??? Anything, maybe, the datamaster could show me?

With the fuel pump the only other way i know of is to do a volume test but it's probably not worth it. I don't know the answer to the stat question but i would think not unless it was broken and never closed. I think even if it didn;t close it would be odd to have it hovering arounf 160. My guess is you have a 160 in there.

Yup, sounds like you have a 160 degree thermostat in there. As far as the fuel pump goes, you can "half assed" guess by how loud it is when it's running. Seems the Walbro fuel pumps have a characteristic "whine" to them especially if the pulsator was removed when the stock fuel pump was replaced like it should have been. While you're poking around, you may want to pull your ECM just for shits and giggles to see if you have a stock chip in there. I drove my syclone for over a year with a "Hypercrap" chip that I wasn't aware of until I got on the list, BB and hung out with other owners :-? . Truck overboosted badly, good thing I drive like a grandma for the most part or else I would have destroyed my motor. And by all means if you bought it from a private owner, ask them what they did if anything while they owned it. Doesn't always have a favorable outcome but, worth a shot  . HTH's

How many miles? If it is a higher mileage vehicle I would replace it for sure. Even if it was replaced, it could have high mileage on it. Get a hold of the previous owner if it is possible, that is probably your best bet.

Good luck,

not to flame my friend, but why didn't you want to know all that has been modded to the truck before you bought it? I personally wouldn't buy any car, espically a syty that is very picky which what will work on it, that I didn't know what has been done to it. If the owner didn't know then I wouldn't buy it. Just my opinion.

Truck ran fine when I looked at it. As long as you are smart enough to check out the truck it doesnt matter what mods are done to it. It didnt ping when I bought it, all the gauges worked correctly, it stayed at full boost, ALL the fluids were serviced, etc. He had good documentation as well. Just because you dont know what all mods were done doesnt make it a risk, as long as it checkes out okay. Truck runs fine now, intake temps around low 70s, spark retard at max 3 and thats right at shifting. I still have to pull ecm, but my guess is no chip. :agrue:
