Well i tried the swearing and sweating approach to getting the rotor off, but my neghibors were getting mad. So after about 25min of chiziling away at the rotor with no luck....i looked over at my dremel and said "Oh yeah this bitch is comming off". Needless to say after a little dremel work it came off. In peices that is. Just thought i would share.

What exactly was your problem? how did you try to remove the rotar.

I've got a stuck one myself, have yet to get back to it, but was planning on a brass punch and a large hammer to get it off.

wondering how much of an issue this is really gonna be.

This was a stock one also. It was just a pain hammering away at it with no luck. I keept taking chunks out of it but no luck. I think the center piece that holds the rotor in place was the problem. That was the last thing to come out. I had to dig it out. The dremel only took about 2min...just watch those vaccume lines.

Is this problem only with the stock (GM) rotor or does it also occur with Conrad's?

Regular replacement and you won't see it as bad. I sometimes threw some grease in there, as it isn't an electrical contact, just a physical slip fit to hold it.

haha, im way out of the loop, im thinking brakes.

yea the stock ignition rotor is stuck on there pretty good, Its the sy/ty maintinance initation routine (bashing hand on hood when it comes flying off with superman force).

I just used a large prying tool, jammed between the botom of the rotar, and broke her in half, came off easy that way.

Does come off easier when replaced regularly, still smash my hand on the hood 1 out of 3 times.

Ian don't forget the mandatory, "slash your skin on any sharp surfaces while it flies up to hit the hood after the part breaks loose". Never fails. Every time I pull a part and it finally breaks loose, I immediately check my hands to see where and how bad it was just sliced and if all my fingernails are still in tact.

Just get a big pair of channel locks or pliers and crush it into pieces (thanks Keith) Much easier on your distributor, or you might be replacing it like I had to. HTH,

And I though you were talking about your brake rotor too! I've never had a problem yet with mine, knock on wood!
