I would do a search. There are a lot of people here running them with great success. Sometimes finding the conversion parts is hard or expensive, but you can usually find them.

Welcome back Pittman. I always liked your Sy... very nice truck and a very good build. Hopefully the owner for the last 6 years took care of it like you did.
There are a lot of 80e swaps going on these days. Contact Mike Lee at RPM and he can get you most of the conversion parts you need. Electronic control is what you want.

Yeah, Thats me...
The truck has had some serious work done but is unfinished. Ive got some kind of monster intake that I have to make work. Wilson, I believe. The throttle body is huge..
I drove it about 4 years ago and it drives like a go cart with the suspension work that was done. It went through 4 or 5 700R4's in emediate succesion and the owner got fed up.
The truck wont see the drag strip again, I cant remember what it ran last time but I was kicked out because I didnt have a cage. Its showroom condition with 35K and I REFUSE to cage it.

I havent decided on electronic or full manual.
I road in a 70 camaro (resto mod, full coilover, ceramic brakes, 6 figure project) that was set up to autocross. It had a 4L80E with a tricked out shifter, push it forward to down shift and pull it upshift and it always ratcheted back to the vertical. It was pretty slick, I just have no idea how it was set up.
I do have a controller somewhere though.

I used one of those when I had my 67 Chevelle. It's basically plug-and-play. Ratcheting mechanism is in the shifter, itself. I used the B&M pro ratchet. Had to bang it 6 times to go from park to 1st gear. Ton of fun and never have to worry about missing a gear.
Several GM cars through the years had "slap sticks" which were full ratchet floor shifters if you pushed them to one side. I saw a 70 GTO with one from the factory.

There's a new member on the board that build transmissions for a living and has a full race Syclone that will run 9's this year and his 700R will work for sure.. :roll:

Where do you work? Have you seen that little 20yr old prick with the blue and black Veyron? Im almost positive he lives over in "The Landing" or in that area. I hauled after him about a month back on my bike but couldnt get to him.

Ive done some more research and it takes a manual body with reverse pattern, "PRN1234". You can also do the transbrake in that setup LMAO. I bet that could get expensive..... I bet the sy drivetrain would give it up.
There is also a way to do it electronicly but it has a slight lag.
I may try it WTH if I dont like it, I can pull the valve body out and redo it. Might be fun?

It has a new 700r4 in it which will last for a short while as long as it doesnt hook up. Since its been sitting I have seals everywhere which are seaping. None on the motor thank goodness, but front and rear diff and tranny, fuel cell sump drain, etc etc. Fuel press sending unit is froze up. Did one launch to make sure those tires where good and rounded before I put it up.
