Cool truck but I would be scared to go 160 with no cage and what look like stock seat belts

Jerry Perez needs to take a lesson from GM-EFI on how to write a better online article. At least GMEFI threw in a bit of details on the build. That crap on LS1 was horrible. Tom Joy deserves a bit more recognition than that.

The cage is an issue. I ran the Mojave Mile a couple of years ago. (SCTA rules which limited me to 140 because of tires) One pass was a "breakout" IE over 140. I found out later it was just over 140 at about 142. Ran again and got a cute little certificate. 136.6  Also not running as well as I would have liked so it's probably good for 150. I dunno after that.

You're only up there for a few seconds, literally, but it felt stable. I enjoyed it.

I could have gone to Colinga, they don't care (about tires) as far as I tell but at about $500 total (travel and racing) it wasn't in the budget.

At what speed does the cladding come off? I know some guys have lost front arches while racing.

Funny you ask. I just happen to see my front cladding hanging out away from the fender last year at the track. Quit racing and went home not wanting to break something. Removed them (the 2 front arches) and continued on. Finally have them repaired and installed with slightly larger screws and "fender washers" to secure them better. They "feel" very secure but that doesn't mean much at 100 mph.

He said he was running rich, "fat". That will make a big difference.
