Ground Force mono-leafs

I tossed the crappy aftermarket air shocks that were installed on the Ty last weekend.
To my surprise the rear actually raised even higher with the shocks removed.

So I went ahead & ordered some Ground Force 3" drop mono-leafs.
They weren't cheap. I got them from Stillen which was about the lowest internet price I could find. $300 with tax & shipping.

I'll post up weight & ride height differences once I get them installed this weekend.

Any reason you chose the monoleaf Ground Force over the multi leaf Bell Techs?

BT are about half the price by the way.

Re: Ground Force mono-leafs

Simplicity, I guess would be my main reason. And because I can't see any compelling reason to run a multi-leaf other than price.

People spend a least that much on Flex-a-forms and they will eventually rot out & break. Can't see that happening with these.

Part # for the springs too?

I never thought of a mono leaf setup.
should be lighter as well.

Re: Ground Force mono-leafs

I am guessing the 2010 (std reg cab S 10) and the 2015 (ext cab S-Series or jimmy) have different spring rates based on vehicle weight.

did you get the 2015 for the Ty?

Re: Ground Force mono-leafs

I bought ground force leafs for my Sy years ago for $99 a set from AIM Industries

No, I went with the 2010 considering the current nosebleed height of the rear end.

Weight is 19.4lbs. ea.
My cuurent ride height in the rear is 30".

I bought some poly bushings to replace the rubber ones.
Anyone else that has installed the poly bushings; did you remove the metal shell from the eyelets to install the bushing?

Re: Ground Force mono-leafs

I'm confused because the ES instructions say to remove the shells from the springs, but if there is a shell used in the frame, leave it.

there are shells in the frame you re-use. but the springs don't have shells....just the bushing and sleeve.

we were discussing the springs.

Re: Ground Force mono-leafs

I think when I did the poly bushings on my ty, I cut all of the metal sleeves out.. so far so good..

I remember doing that when I did the Sy. I used a hacksaw & it was a bitch.
I'm just going to throw them on with the rubber bushings for now so I can check the drop. Then I'll worry about replacing the bushings.
