So I just got my ALDL USB cable (TTS version) about a week ago and Jeremy and I had it working on eiter com port 4 or 5. Now it only recognizes port 3 and when I set it up to start recording, it doesn't recognize something. A window pops up that says the computer recognizes the hardware, but that there may be a problem with the adapter in the cable. Is my cable getting a bad connection (it feels a little loose at the adapter) or is there something else I should try? I want to drop fuel psi and add alky, but not with having a DM going to watch for KR.

have you put the usb into a different usb port on your computer? You should use the same usb port every time, otherwise the computer gets confused and installs (or tries to) the drivers for each port and you start to get conflicts if you use many usb devices

I have two on my laptop, it worked on both at first. I tried both again, it's now recognizing a different com port number, and not the cable. I don't use many USB devices on this thing. I'm thinking it might be the cable getting a bad connection. I'll let you know what the window that pops up says next time I try to run DM on my truck (later today or maybe tomorrow).

personally...i would uninstall the datamaster cables' usb drive.....and then all of the usb root hub drivers and reinstall them.

Yep, still lost here. I think it's having an issue recognizing the adapter in this contraption.

I hate computers, mostly because I'm a little slow in the head. I couldn't get the stupid Omnifi MP3 player that I bought of a member here to work in wireless mode so its sits in its $200+ box and rots so I don't stomp it into the dirt.

How do I make sure the cable is grounding good? Just be sure it's plugged in properly and is making good connection? I'm confused, still. I just tried using an older laptop with a serial connection. Found an adapter cable lying around and hooked it all up. Still nothing, it did recognize Com 1 and 3 with that computer though. Is there some sort of configuring I should do?

I had this same problem...I had my friend fix it for me since I'm a computer-challenged, but from what I remeber he went into the device manager in windows and re-installed the the drivers for the usb ports. Hope this at least helps a little bit...

How are you attaching it to the obd1 socket? are you just pushing the wires in?

I tried updating the USB drivers. I want to try reinstalling them. Will it be okay if I uninstall them? Will it be easy to just click re-install or are the files for the drivers going to be gone for any reason? Or will I need a CD or to get the drivers online when I uninstall my current drivers? I'm not attaching any wires, everything has a plug on it. Can you clarify? OBD1 is the port under the dash? It seems like I'm getting an okay connection there.

I got it to find the usb byt DM is still saying no PCM I have version DATAMASTER TT 3.4.1
is this correct for the truck?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I'm having the same problem. It's just not seeing the PCM, I think it may be the adapter in the cable. That version you have should be right for our trucks... I'm still stuck too.

I had this problem with I tryed to data log in my truck. I tried 3 different laptops and just gave up.. Said screw it. It wasnt worth my time to get all pissed off at it and throw a laptop across the room. :lol:

maybe we are missing the point im trying to find out what NO PCM meens when trying to rec on DATAMASTER

ok I found out what it is its the lap top not syncing up with the cars comp. easy adjustment :tup:

you have to go in to the timming sync in the advanced menu I set mine to 195 and it worked so my laptop is going to be fine(wont throw it) the defalt is at 0

go to the bottom and download the manual in the mid. of it it says SY/TY almost always has this prob. :tup:
