Guess its time

Well I have been lurking around here while searching for my next Ty. I guess its time to introduce myself. My name is Steven, I am 35yrs old, married with 3 children. I am currently stationed in the UK with the USAF. I have 11months left on this 4 yr assignment. We cant wait to get back home.

Now thats out of the way, the car stuff. I am ASE & I-Car certified. I have been involved in just about every aspect of the automotive scene. Parts, tuning, selling, racing, wrecking(!), mechanic, body shop...you name it. I perform some freelance work for a company called ATF Power. Gareth and I mostly deal with Cosworth, Ferrari, Skylines and the odd EVO and Scooby. Gareth has taught me alot about custom fabrication and engine management. I hope some of this will help me think out side the box with my Ty.

I have owned just about every style of car. Here are a few highlights in no particular order:

R33 Nissan Skyline GTR V-spec
R32 Nissan Skyline GTS-T type M
Mitsubishi Starions (one with a SBC in it!)
Pontiac Fieros (with pretty much any GM engine combo you can think of)
Mini Cooper
Syclone I bought new only to have it stolen shortly thereafter
Subaru WRX

First of all, thank you for your service to our country. With this crap election that just took place, our armed forces are going to face many new challenges from the ENEMY WITHIN. Just know, many of us have your back. :tup:

Did you find the right Ty yet? You mentioned you got some good offers, just wondering if you've narrowed it down. I'll probably be joining you in the market pretty soon.

Where do you live in the states? Are you in NASTE country? (Delaware to points north)

Yeah they keep making it harder and harder to stay in. I guess I can complain too much, 11 years & 3 combat tours isn't too bad these days.

I call Virginia home, the wife is from Long island NY.

I narrowed my search down to 3 Ty's. One is mint & all original, another is pretty much the same but not quite as clean and the 3rd was pretty much a Kenny Bell rolling advertisement that ended up having a salvage title. It seems to be a good time to buy since sellers seem willing to work a deal. :tup:

I have been talking with Mike Hood alot. That guy is very helpfull!

Welcome and a huge X2 on the apperication of your service with out Armed Forces (Ret. Army myself)! Good luck on finding "the right" Ty. If we can assist in any way we would be happy to do so. It's good you have automotive background in general and great that you hold A.S.E. and I-Car cert's. It's always good to have knowledgable new members!

The emaxx (gorillamaxx in the pics) was a tank. The Team Losi LST2 is a brushless/lipo powered $1350 beast! 0-42mph in 3.6 seconds!!! Expensive... LOL sure is!

I sold my Emaxx after 3 years and a complete rebuild in blue aluminum ... bought a Rustler 2.5, put tall tires on it and hardened steel CV's. It topped out at about 60 mph... I sold after I destroyed it about the 6th time... one bump too many and the dang thing just exploded :lol:
I have pictures somewhere, maybe I'll post them sometime. Also had a Tamiya Bruiser at one time. Out of RC's and into PAS now... I'm picking up truck #2 this weekend :tup:

Found my Ty! I am getting it from a member in Florida. I'll be picking it up next month when we are back in the USA. :tup:
