Yeah, I'm still on this side of the soil

! Heh, Neal McCool, come on down! You're one of the "old school" guys now . I can't think of anyone else who has had as many screen names as you over the years, "Defiled Sy" and "Cold Wind of Death" come to mind . I don't get on here as much as I used to

. Getting married, buying a house, spouse health issues and changing jobs has cut into my "free time" quite a bit. I still have my truck, hard to believe it will be 18 years in July. I'm glad to say that it has spent more time running than not during my ownership

.
There was a
poll on here about FB earlier this month. I was telling my buddy that activity on here was WAY down. FB has become the equivalent to what syty.net was to the mailing list back in the day. There's a few people on here that have been around since the list days... Nothing like opening your email after being gone for a week and having a 1,000 plus emails to go through. And this was back in the days of dial up if that shows how far back I'm talking about .
DaveP hit the nail on the head earlier with regards to his observations. I consider FB to be "fortune cookie" syty and that's not because I'm Asian

! The posts tend to be concise since lengthy responses would be frowned upon by the people with the attention span of a fruit fly. And much like after you open a fortune and read it, it's forgotten about the next day... However, I can see Adam's point of view too. Anything that keeps the interest alive in these trucks is worthwhile. There are fewer and fewer every year and unless we get the dedicated owners that these trucks need, they will fade into history.
After about a decade and a half, I lost the host where all my pics were stored. So, I am one of those "partial contributors" with the threads that have missing pics now

. It was
A LOT of damn pics too. I think about 50% or so of my posts had pics in them, maybe more

. It's true that a picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes a good pic would show something that would take a paragraph to explain.
In closing, just a word of caution if you decide to tear your truck apart. If you have
ANY inclination whatsoever that you may not follow through with it,
DON'T DO IT! I have lost count of the folks on here over the years who started a tear down to never finish and the truck ends up getting sold in boxes or parted out. Usually the latter. Even if you decide to cry "uncle" and get out of the syty cult, you won't take take near the hit selling a semi running truck vs. one that is in pieces. No matter what you do at this point, you will always be in the syty cult, the only way out is death
