Had some fun with an LS2 GTO

Was on the way back from my friends house and I pull up to a light. I look over and there is a nice grey 6.0 GTO. We take off and I kinda gave it some gas but he didn't do much. So after messin with him for abit, he finally starts to play and floors it by me. Then we start slowin down for this up comming light, probably get down to about 30 or so but then the light turns green, so he floors it and I do the same. He is probably acouple car lengths ahead of me but I was pullin on him pretty hard. I went by him and let out about 85. Not sure how far ahead of him I was, but it was a fair amount. Maybe a couple lengths.

We had one more go at it but this time he started way ahead of me, so all I really did was stop his pull and started pulling him but had to brake due to the up comming train tracks.

Afterwords I rolled down my window...told him nice car and asked him if it was the 6 liter. Told him my truck had an LS1 in it, said "cya", and gave each other a wave.

I'm unsure if his car was a stick or an auto also as to what his mods were or if he had any. Couldn't really hear his car over my truck, although the truck tends to be pretty loud... :lol:

Haha, ya thanks. I figured he was probably wondering why his car was running so bad that a pick-up was pullin on him so I told him...lol

Thats the reason I had to put a STS system on my wifes LS2 GTO, I got ate by a WRX STI and couldn't have that, lol. Nice kill.

I thought to myself, nah maybe Im hearing things, but I went home and did a little google search and sure enough STS turbo kits for GTO's 50 state legal too!!! Woulda liked to test it off the line tho

I am going to line up my SY against my buddies 05' GTO at the drags this Tuesday. I hope I smoke him....I only have a kn panel filter and a full 3" exhaust, hehe....good thing he sucks at driving a stick ---

there are now several turbo kits for the GTO's. I had one on mine before I sold it, they run very well, especially from a roll.

No competition for most you guys from a standing start though!

Not sure what year it was but I raced one from a roll a few days ago and pulled slowly on him. Guess i need to turn up the boost.

THen sat nite i raced a turbo eclispe (sp) and pulled good on him.... he said he'd get me from a stop because he's AWD. I laughed and said "no you wont"

You are absolutely correct. Would have paid for the late night mcdonalds driver threw my friend and I went through. Now that I've entered the digital world of cameras, im going to start recording a few late night encounters....

My friend and I just went to the track....he had his 05' GTO and I had my 96' z28 lt1 (we both have similar mods) and he was only 1/2 second quicker than me.... to the tune of 14.1 @102. If its a crappy driver its a 14 second car EASY.

I wish I had my Sy that night....but my front axles are clicking so bad it sounds like they are throwing around stuff ---

New GTO's are funny, some will run 14's while others will get well into the 12's. I really think it just has alot to do with the driver and the elevation.

Regardless, the one I raced ran really well. I can't wait to get some traction under this truck and take it to the track. If I don't run around a mid 12 I'll be somewhat disapointed.

eh....it really depends...from what I've seen, the LS1 GTO's will run low 14 area. But the majority of the time, the LS2 GTO's will run in the low 13 area. There have actually been a fare amount of them in the 12's even with an auto and bone stock. I know of a guy who was running a 12.5 or so in a stock M6 GTO. So they definately have potential to be fast cars if driven correctly..just like anything else i suppose.

Nope...I don't have AWD.

My truck is a sonoma GT w/ an LS1 in it. It is RWD so traction is a problem right now.
