In a way, I think it's pretty slick. I can picture a Sy pulling up to the line at a strip with these and the inimidating look that it would give to the truck. Some probably think it's gay and ricer, but I think it's pretty neat.
This is from a post on the S10 For Life group on Facebook and dude gave a little info.
Would be cool if you could wire them to get brighter/dimmer if you rev'd the truck.
- Cheap plastic h4 housings for ebay $20
- Morimoto h1 mini projectors and a clear mini Gatling shrouds ~350$
- Red halos from ebay $20
- Some PVC tube and acrlyic sheet from homedepot ~$20
Basically put em in the oven, remove the glass lens from the housing, carve the back off of it and spaced it out about 2 or 3 inches and glued the back back on, the projector mounts using the h4 hole. The shrouds got tinted just like you do taillights ( I however use a lil black mixed with clear and do about a thousand coats) the red halos are glued to the inside if the shroud and then shroud glued on.
All the wires ran for the halos and the solenoid for hi/ low beams. And then I had to make a deeper lens because it still stuck out to far and glass distorts the beam anyhow.
For the lens I made a mold using the old glass lens out if plaster, made it about 1/2 taller with body filler and such, stuck it to a peice if dry wall( for one side if the flange, and cut out a peice of Mdf to fit around the base of the lens ( for the other side of the flange. Took 2x4 and made like a 1"x1" square and screwed the acrylic to it, put it in the oven ( time and temp are very important here as it needs to be soft and droopy but not completly melt) and then pull it out of the oven and set it on top of the mold, and push the Mdf around it to suck it to the mold and form the flange.
Some trimming and then glue the lens in. Just that easy lol
I got most of my info from hidplanet.com for the retro and the lenses and such if that helps as well.
The parts were from retrofitsource.com
