The bulbs that go in the gauge cluster are these:

T1.5 and #74 LED CAR BULB
The gauge cluster bulbs don't just slide in. They have a base and everything like the above images. The twist lock hits the "ribbon" of copper housed in the plastic sheet that covers the back of the cluster. There is a lot of room in there.

I know some guys that were soldering in LEDs and resistors and doing math and stuff... this is much easier and even I can handle these LED swaps.

alright well i'll be the guinea pig!

i'm gonna order these today and install them this weekend.

those might be the right bulb for the cluster but the bulbs for the heater/AC are a different bulb. i'll have to pull the dash apart and see what # those bulbs are.

im gonna order up some 194's for my autometer gauges too. i'll post results and pics when i get this nonsense done.

So what's the conclusion? How many of which type of bulb do we have to order to upgrade the cluster and HVAC control? I want to swap my bulbs to LEDs...not change the gauge face or anything. The speedometer and odometer numbers are barely visible at night as it is now.

Jeremy I ordered the bulbs a couple days ago... Hopefully they arrive before the weekend so i have something to do instead of hangin out with the fam this weekend. I will post results and pics once i get everything installed.

Which bulbs did you order and how many? I'm going to search around and see if anyone makes a super white filament bulb. Will generate more heat, but I want my stock cluster brighter.

those look similar to the ones george listed above... who knows... i'll post pics when i get the bulbs and i hook up a stock bulb next to the new LED so you can see the difference... if it sucks im takin em out :lol: maybe i'll try one of those LEDs on ebay if the ones i get are garbage... stay tuned!

alright...

well 2 months later im finally getting around to this shit... i pulled the cluster out and the bulbs on the back are NOT 194 bulbs. well not entirely. technically theyre a 194 bulb but the 2 lil wires that come off the bottom of the bulb are like wrapped around these metal tabs on the plastic base that twists into the cluster. I'm shit outta luck on ideas here as to how to make this work with the 194 LEDs i ordered. The bulbs that George Blake mentioned before are the smaller bulbs that light up the 'check engine' and the parking brake. Those actually work great! I'll get some pics of those tonight if i get a chance. But all of the other bulbs are like the ones i mentioned before that look like a 194, those light up the remainder of the cluster as well as the turn signal arrows in the cluster.

On a side note... i replaced the gear indicator lights with red LEDs and its considerably brighter especially for being a colored instead of white. i also painted the gear indicator metallic red and the lil metallic bits in the paint reflect the light from the LEDs and kinda create an 'illuminated' effect. I think im going to repaint my gauge needles this color and see how it works out.

some people on this board experiment with new ideas to make our trucks faster or actually do something to contribute to the community... me... i experiment with how to make our lights pretty :roll: :lol:

2. Everyone ask for pictures, but no-one posted them. Why ? Was it a failure?

Mine got all done, bright as hell, big big difference over stock.

I did take a couple pics of it, but they never did it any justice so I trashed them, but I'd swear by the LED upgrade.
