The superkote holds up on cast stuff very well, and looks sharp. Put it on ATR/KB headers - no good.
I've seen this used on Supra headers and it held up... it got me wondering why it worked here, but not on my old Syclone headers. Looked into the header material - stainless - but it was about 10 times beefier/thicker material than my Syclone's ATR headers. Having more material there to absorb/shield the heat will make it live. FWIW, i've seen a BUNCH of exhaust housings superkoted, and it lasts a LONG time, no corrosion, no flaking, and it stays shiny.
FWIW, I've also used *paint* on the stock exhaust manifolds and it was fine. I bead blasted them, then used high temp heat spray on 'em. I think bead blasting opened up the pores on 'em a bit. They smoked when I first started the truck after painting, but it didn't flake/burn off. Course, it probably didn't shield the heat any better than stock... but at least it didn't rust & look all crappy, which is one of my big concerns with manifolds/exhaust.
