Christ, it took me a week and was a total bitch. That guy who maned the heater core TFHC or something similar was so right. I'll leave it up to you to decide what the "F" stands for.

Yeah, it took me 2.5 hours, and I had never done it before in any car, and I screwed around a bunch too. 3 hours should be more than enough time.

saudi sy..

dont goto the dealer to get the heater core...they will bend you over...

pep boys...just ask for the s-series heatercore if the trainee behind the counter doesnt know what a GMC Cyclone is...

$30 dollars, and you get a lifetime warrenty.

you can triple that price going with the dealer...

btw...pics and install directions on http://www.sytyarchives.com

completion time is average 2-3 hours....

have fun morgan...

Thanks for the info. I was told that some people only had good luck with the GM part. It's a big job and I am not looking forward to it. Mine only drips a few drops when it hasn't been driven for a while. I might just need to replace the hose. What do you think? Thanks again.

dealer wanted $90 from me for the HC. I went to advanced auto and picked it up for 20 or so.

Could take you anywhere from 1-3 hours the first time, given the right tools, and instructions.

saudi..

it isnt dripping from the hose...trust me....you'll see when you pull the core, it will have some spot that has some green corrosion (where its leaking).

btw...its a good idea to install a engine tiedown...this will keep the engine from torquing over under boost and keep the HC from breaking...which is the main cause for them leaking in the first place...

Done mine in Ty today. Took 30 mins to getit ready to come out. Going to flush the system before I put the new one in. Got the core at Advance $18.00. These are a piece of cake compaired to the Vette. Did break the housing pulling it out, anyone ever price one before? I'll goto GMDIRECT.COM to check.

no adam. they leak from corrosion. if they broke from engine torque they would leak from where the tubes attach. besides they are isolated by rubber hose.

wow.........that was fun, NOT!!!!!!

yeah, took me a little over 3 hours, I redid some stereo shit while I was under there. someone should add a note to sytyarchives that Duct Tape comes in handy for re-assembly, at least if u have nerves like me. I got a little PO'ed and cracked my HC Cover in 2 spots, oh well
All in all it wasnt too bad.
