Helmet?

Since I am bring my Dailer Beater to the Nats, because my Sy isn't quite done.

Do I need a Helmet for Autocrossing? Drag/Bracket Racing? (car probably runs 17/18 in the 1/4 mile.) I bought a new helmet this year, but I also have a SN95 Helmet (good shape, probably used less than 1/2 dozen times) Should I bring the old Helmet for someone else if needed?

For drag probably not, autocross normally they require one. Its your safety and you have a helmet so seems logical to bring it and use it. Hard to put them on just before you might need one.

14.00 1/4 is usually cutoff, but its your safety also.

KC require me to use one for that high 16 sec Jeep Rental 2 years ago (which shocked me). I just haven't been to the track in few years since my Sy has been down to see what the current rules are.

whats your daily beater? Looks like im going to have to take an 04 Cavalier If your going to be out racing i might as well to, lol.

... or my durango if i can get a cheap distributor for it.

Bring both. Just in case you need one. Somebody else will need to borrow one too.

I may bring an extra helmet if its needed.
Not sure if I will race the SS or not.
More than likely have all the jacks jack stands coolers and tools in the bed.
Plus I already know its a big fat pig of a truck.

Ran 15.3s all day at KCIR with 300 pounds of tools in it a few years back.

IDK if it's an SCCA rule but our local auto-x association requires at least SN2000. I tried with an SN95 at the last event and I wasn't allowed to race with it.

Snell95s are expired now for all racing. Have to have a min of a 2000. I had a Bell Dominator that I had to quit using end of '06 I believe. Bought an Impact Vapor, which is about a $800 helmet. Friend of mine worked for Impact at the time and I picked it up for $250.

So will older helmets be permitted or does it have to be SN2000? What does BG rules say?

I have ran 12's in my vette several times with no helmet. I also ran the Tow class in BG with no helmet. Every autoX I have been to requires a helmet though.

Hmm, maybe I should bring my 04 cavalier up and race it so I don't break my Ty? Will give me a chance to play with HPtuners some more
