did you remove the cat?
stock wastegate?
no other boost controller?
what about the rest of the exhaust?

Re: help asap

same build here and having the same probs. stock exhaust still. have a turbonetics knob boost controller but cant even make stock boost with it? not that it matters cause as soon as i start makin ANY boost KR shoots all over the place?wtf. if I use the boost solenoid it seems to work ALOT better, but I thought that Phil Long chips didnt use the solenoid to control boost? :dunno: I can put the stock stuff back in it and rape it all day long w/o a single prob... Im pretty much lost.(was gonna start a similar thread but i e-mailed e-rue for some advice since thats where i got the chip, jus havent heard back yet) Very curious as to where this thread goes

yea i dont get it either....so you have a boost controller and your still all over the place....i was thinking of getting the waller turbo or rpm stage 1 turbo kit with an external boost controller.....bc it seems those turbos controll boost alot better.

oo and im on the stock wastegate 100% stock exhaust setup

Re: help asap

from what i know the manual controller acts the same as the solenoid, just bleeds off pressure.if im not mistaken the stock syty actuator is a 8lb unit and the ecm controlls the amt of air the solenoid bleeds to reach the target boost. I dont have anywhere the funds to even think of gettin a new turbo so im gonna figure it out somehow...................hopefully...oh yea, with the manual controller boost controll is solid, if you consider a slow rising boost gauge that never goes past 8-9 psi solid??????

so will a manual boost controller stop my over boost problems

not necessarily but it will help bleed off boost, so you stay away from high boost. basically now you need to start fooling with timing, spark plug gaps and fuel pressure to get your KR down.

have you checked turbo shaft play?

Re: help asap

make sure you have datamaster, you will have to play with fuel pressure baseline, and check to make sure your timing is at true 0*TDC.

Re: help asap

fuel pressure is at 42 psi with engine running vaccuum line disconnected and plugged

Re: help asap

turbo has acceptable shaft play for a high mileage turbo. its actually prob very good for a high miler! I know installing a knob controller isnt rocket science but it doesnt seem to bleed boost no matter how i adjust it? my timing is at a perfect 0' for a known fact. ur6 plugs gapped to .32 all fresh tune-up, a month old. fuel pressure is at 45 line off. I can even fill it up with 100 octane(got it at the pump here in charlotte) and no change

Re: help asap

not false cause if i put the stock stuff back in i could do 10 full runs w/o KR going past 2 deg b/w shifts at the most
