Re: help me decide on a TY
Jimmy, Josh Young, Dave P....X2 on their opinions, and they really do know what they are talking about.
I know for a fact this truck has been up for sale for a looonnnggg time. In addition, It's previous Illinois location is a small farm town nearby, I've never heard of or seen this truck while it was here, trust me I'd found out from someone sooner or later.. Couldn't have been here for too long then, and I can tell you that's where the rust came from. Title problems in Illinois, means no registration to legally drive. it was never seen on the roads here, was it broke down in the garage?
This truck (in my location) would appraise out for the asking price, just because of it's original preservation condition, but as stated w/ the market, no way. If you buy this for that price, you'll never get your money back out of it if you mod it and DD. My field of knowledge is great in the "original truck" area. IMO, This truck is not suited for your plans. Just as Dave stated these current unmolested trucks are very scarce, and IMO they need to be left alone for the collector types. Even if you keep the parts, it's only original once, and you'll still have wear and tear, rock chips, rust getting worse from rain, etc, etc. Don't forget the mileage gets racked up a lot quicker. Collectors don't like that all, which IMO is the only "buyer" for this truck. Anyone else wanting to buy it to drive is going to pass for a cheaper one. Only way THIS truck could be an investment, is if you drive it a few times a year, and keep it untouched. And that's not in your plans.
Good news is there are plenty of trucks out there that DO fit your plans.
We've all been there, I myself have passed up some Syclones and Typhoons, and was glad I did because I found much better trucks that suited my goals. And with the help we the members are offering, you'll find the perfect truck for your goals. Your in good hands here at this forum, as everyone has certain areas of expertise on these trucks.
