Due to the rain I found out I have some kind of leak only on the driver side, I found 1 1/2" of water down by the gas & brake pedal. Ever heard of this before?

What is the correct method of fixing this?

Couple of suggestions:

Look at the boot (it holds the wiring harness for the door) that goes into the door hinge pillar - might be loose or out.

Also, beneth the kick panel is a mat that has a sticky back to it that is placed over a large hole - this hole is basically the vent hole on a non-airconditioned vehicle - The "sticky mat" sometimes comes loose or decays with age.

Also-Also - I have noticed that if you park the vehicle on a weird angle while it is raining (or washing it), water just finds a way in - my TY, my old S-blazer and my Sonoma all do it. Try to park dead level in the wet weather if you can.

Check where the emergency brake cable comes through the firewall. Most times that boot is not pushed in. I had a leak there. Also there is an electrical connector that comes into the cab by the brake booster, spray some black tar undercoating around where it seals. Let me know

Put your head under the dash and look around with a flash light for the source of the leak. Not to be an ass but there are quite a few possibilites.

my suggestions....

there is a rubber gasket the sticks to the cowl under the hood. It goes around the hood hinge to keep water out. If that is damaged or missing, it can lead to rust in the firewall and thus leads to water leaking into the interior.

my truck has the same problem on the passenger side, I just dont care anymore. Ive already pulled the carpet, cleaned, treated and resealed the floor seams so if it gets when I just toss down a cloth or wait for it to evaporate.

check your weatherstripping around the door of the side of your problem...my money would be on that...it happened to me (gm but not syty) when some weatherstripping pulled out of its track at the top around the door sill, even with the door closed...glue it back in or replace....

Thanks for the information on the kick panel, I remove mine & found the insulation dripping wet.

Prior to posting the Question I had already check the door weatherstripping. Thank You for letting me know I was on the right track.

When I bought my truck the previous owner installed a new one as it was missing on the test drive.
