HKS External Wastegate

That's the HKS standard. I've used it with good luck. Get the right spring, and you'll be set. I believe I used the 10-12psi spring.

Use an air compressor regulator for control, in dual port mode, and you'll be set.

Just a thought...

Maybe we could email them for a group purchase. If they would be willing to drop 10%, with an order for 10-15 then it would be just under 300.

What would be a good spring size to get? I think 10psi would be too low.
If we all agreed, maybe we could get 14-15psi spring in as well.

I just remembered Jim got like a 13psi spring in his HKS. He might have tried a 15 and it was too much.

I need one of these soon, so I'll email that place and see if they can do the group.

I found HKS' spring ratings to be off. The 15psi spring didn't open for me, period, and I ran the truck up to 20psi. I think I had a 10-12psi spring in there, but I forget now. PTE uses 'em a lot, they may be able to give you more info on it. Mike may have better data for you as well.

I forget which one we have in bw's wastegate.

Been going back and forth now on price for about an hour with that place.
I am pushing for a group purchase of 15 at $300 each. They are saying $310,

Anyway its $300, but I don't know if its really worth it, they have to ship them to one place.

The total for them to ship them to me is like $120. That is $8 each. Then to ship them out from here, who knows, say $8.
That is $316 each. Savings of about $20 from their original price. Not really worth the hassle IMO.

I also emailed Al Dustan about a GP on the TIAL. I have heard they are just as good. I would just like to wait and see what Al says and go from there. I live about 30 min from Al's shop, so going and picking them up from him or coordinating something would be easier, I'm sure.

Let me know what you think.

i would go with the tial. more specific the tial 40mm.

it is a little more expensive, but a favorite around many other crowds..

TiAL 40mm Wastegate

40MM Wastegate Features
• Nickel-based alloy is used for valve and 347SS valve housing offers longer product life compared to competing designs
• High temperature silicone Nomex reinforced actuator diaphragm
• 17-7 PH stainless steel actuator spring gives consistent pressure at high temperature; resists "relaxing" at temperature to 900F (483C)
• Nitronic 60 stainless steel is used for the valve seat, and valve bushing
• All stainless steel hardware
• Color anodized aluminum actuator (Titanium gray Std) Red, Blue, Violet available in 1999
• Available spring pressures:
.4Bar (5.8psi)
.6Bar (8.7psi)
.7Bar (10.2psi)
.8Bar (11.6psi)
.9Bar (13.1psi)
1.0Bar (14.5psi)
1.1Bar (16.0psi)
1.2Bar (17.4psi)
1.3Bar(18.9)
1.4Bar (20.3psi)

Compare the materials used, long design life, overall appearance and quality. We think dollar for dollar it's the best value, period.

now it all depends on how much boost you want to run. the 40 mm is a great one for running low boost and getting excellent response.
the 36mm (cheaper) is for running slightly higher boost than the 40.

either way they are all damn good products.

why arent you all thinking about using externals from innovative?

I would be interested in the Tial 40MM also. Let us know what Al says about the price. I will get which ever one is in the GP. thanks for your effort in setting this up.

I have been thinking about the innovative as well.

Just have not found the reason to pay the extra money. I think Adam got his inno for $500 with the flange welded to his crossover. I got quoted another price, which was a bit higher. Just don't see the reason for paying so much, when one that will do the job just as good for half that.

I think the TiAL 40MM is going to be the one to go with.

whatever is cheaper, the HKS or the TiAL 40mm is what I'll probably go with.

I have heard plenty of good about the HKS. I know it fits well. I don't know of anyone running the TiAL 40MM.

If anyone has the TiAL 40MM, let us know what you think.

Hey guys, I've had a TiAl 40mm for a couple of months now and it has worked perfect! I got it with the .8 bar spring and it will perfectly control boost upto 22psi. Of course I do have an electronic boost control but some of you have had decent succes with the bleeder setups.

just my .02

BigAl...

BTW if you want more boost you simply have to order a heavier spring.
