Holley dominator efi knock sensor interference?

I saw Randy's post below and did not want interfere with his post.

I have my domiator efi set up and running enough to drive the truck, but I'm having issues with the knock reporting. I always have knock counts, even when the sensor is unplugged!

I have been on the Holley tech forum a wile back and tried everything that was sugested (updated the software, uninstalled/reinstalled software on the laptop) and nothing has worked. Could this be interference from the ignition system? I tried a new coil, still same problem. I still need to unhook the MSD ignition box to see if that helps. Could a bad cap and rotor cause interference? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does anyone have a good starting point for shift pints and T/C lockup files for a 4l80e?
Same with boost Control?

Can anyone suggest tuners in Texas that are familiar with the Holley efi setup? I contacted a few shops around San Antonio, but all say they don't work on anything older than 1998.

Thanks,

You may want to try Steve Morris Engines and see if they will sell you some tech support time. They took control of my laptop via Team Viewer and helped a lot with my initial setup.

Edit: Have you tried just reducing the sensitivity?

Thanks for the replies!

I will check out the links.

Steve Morris' guys did the initial start up tune for me, I'll see what they have to say about it!

thanks,

Sorry for the bump, having trouble posting new thread, seeing if i can even reply to one....

ha, thanks for the bump. I had forgot about this and saw the thread again.

On closer inspection I do believe that my msd is hooked up to the power junction on the firewall where some of the other stuff for the dominator is hooked up as well. The ground is run to a common ground where I have my fan and boost a pump grounds.

Do you think this would cause a problem? Should I run it directly to the battery mounted in the back?

Thanks

Yes, this can not only damage the ECU but cause ground loop issues like your experiencing. MSD should be power and ground directly to the battery as with the Holley.

Ok, I have the main power for the Domiator hooked directly to the battery, but i have the accessory power to the dominator and MSD ignition hooked up to the same key on power circuit. I have the msd ignition and dominator both grounded to the body, but not in the same place.

When I get a chance I'll re run the ignition power and ground back to the battery.
I haven't been working on the typhoon as I now have a 2012 f150 RCSB 5.0 with a roush blower and long tube headers that is already making way more power than the typhoon is set up for & its much more civilized to drive.

Thanks for all the help!
