Holsets are a proven turbo(1+ million miles)

Pretty much any turbo can hit the 1 million mark, so long as its taken care of. More of the smaller Holsets have gone the distance because they're used and owned by Cummins. The B-series and ISB (Dodge Ram 5.9L) engines are proven reliable, hence the higher mileage. Cat, Detroit, International, Mercedes-Benz, Isuzu and Volkswagen all have turbodiesels with something thats bound to fit and do what you need it to do. If someone was adventureous enough, I think VGT's are on the horizen for these trucks. (Hint- with more trucks using DPFs, VGTs are becoming more prevalant out there. They're already used by Porsche )

sorry that I'm not some rich syclone owner that just gives some shop money to build me something fast. just kidding guys but really that is cool that pte is a proven turbo for our trucks but at some point they where a new turbo to the truck and had to be proven.

LOL at the rich Syclone owner. For me getting turbo that isn't going to be a bolt on, most likely means I will have to bring to a shop to install it. I don't have the tool/skill to make up a downpipe, wastegate, and if the turno needs and adpater to fit a t3 flange.

I´m running a HX35 @1bar. I have some ignition issues so cant say how well it does.

I put an hx 35 on about 3 months ago. had to port the hell out of the waste gate.it run the stock injectors out at 15 psi. but is an awsome street turbo.

I'm with Quickstop. Find the maps ect. and go from there. :rant:Always strikes me as odd. The factory's spend hundreds of engineering and test hours matching a turbo and we just throw 'em on there.:rant:

do it if it works for your set up
take it from someone whos been around this board for a long time.


don't listen to bandwagon expert opinions-pretty soon you'll have the certain bandwagon chip -and turbo, parts etc- you'll be loved and accepted by all who have the same thing.

- your truck will not be as fast as it should- you'll wonder why then you'll notice that everyone elses truck isn't as fast as it should be either.

then it will hit you-
