Holy Smokes... This Could Have Been Bad!

I've had my Belltech springs and sway bar for over a year now, but only got around to installing them yesterday. First time I've ever had my Ty on a two post lift. My buddy, who owns the shop we're in, sets the pads on the passenger side, then gets down to set the drivers side. "HOLY SHIT!", followed by "You're going to shit your pants when you see this." We lift the truck and find this...

It appears to have been broke for a while now. Not one abnormal sound from the rear (the rear window squeak is normal now), and my truck gets driven almost every day it's nice out.

Now, go out and check your leaf springs.

Just this Thursday, had the bracket that holds the rack to the subframe break off. Heard a pretty nasty knocking sound in the parking lot of the job site I was at. Decided to tow it, glad I did once I got it up on the lift.

That happened on my brother's 3/4 ton truck. Both sides actually. Clunked a lot, but he drove it that way for a month or two

Wow, that is a hell of a find. Glad you caught it before any damage was done.

Lucky you found this sooner then later did you feel
the rear end wandering when cornering ..

I never heard anything or felt anything loose. I do keep my music up though, to drown out the rear window noises. The spring must have been in there pretty good, and only came out the first time when we lifted it off the ground. I have been driving fairly careful because my tires are a bit too tall and I don't like it when they touch the cladding, but I did very recently make a 250 mile round trip over Chinook Pass, near Mt Rainier. That was a spirited drive, but still nothing noticeable.

My truck was like that when I bought it over 10 years ago. Never heard any noise or felt anything loose. worst part was I took it to the track like that. Didn't find out until I put it on a lift. Oops!

Had that happen on my silverado because i got the wrong front aluminum bushings with my caltracs. The truck had a spool so it would climb in and out of the bushing pocket and give a very uneasy feeling around turns.
The caltrac guys said they had never heard of that ever happening, but it sounds like its more common than i thought.
