Speaking of this....It would be a big help if you could email or PM me the correct position for the shock mount point on the hood itself. I need this so I can place the Kevlar reinforcements inside the substructures of my CF hoods.
Thanks in advance ! ;)

I've installed this kit on Harwood Fiberglass hoods. They work.

I don't have enough information regarding the underskin support/bracing for other suppliers.

I would hate to say that they work on all hoods, and then find one that it doesn't.

Harwood is the only one that I've had "actual" experience with (twice)

Re: Hood Lift kit

Time to resurrect this thread? Hope Phil is still around to offer these, have a pair that were sitting since I don’t remember when, just now installed them, perfect fit, easy to install, quality product! I hated the stock rod so much that after I repainted my front clip area where it mounts, I left it off and was using the old broom handle trick, till I installed these hood lifts. I kind of got spoiled with the high lift of the broom stick, that when I put on the hood lift, and lost only 2 inches, wanted more lift if I could get it, well I am quite tall so more clearance is preferred for me. After searching many manufacturer web sites, could not find a 22 inch shock to swap with, common sizes are 20 inch (stock lift height of kit), and 24 inch (later too tall for hood range), even fleabay was giving me fits trying to understand my search criteria. Still not willing to give up I tried more/desperate search criterias till I did found a 22 inch shock/lift. Just got them today and they installed in the stock location/Phil’s brackets, and worked perfect! Cleared as well as the stock shocks, had enough lift to move the hood up and hold it in place without me helping, thinks it’s a done deal for those that are tall, or those that need replacements since I see many were sold back in 2007 and might be worn out.

Link below but after a while, I am sure the link will expire, so will give the search details and sellers eBay page so those in the future can still find it if needed.

Thanks again for Phil coming up with the idea, doing a great job at making these, and taking care of so many sales (also love the driveshaft loops he sold!!).

Re: Hood Lift kit

I still have a set of these new in the box. What I really need are a set that are the proper resistance for a lightweight carbon fiber hood. I would hate to install these only to tear the hood trying to close it. I will have to poke around and see what I can find... some day. lol.

Yeh, so . Get on the internet and use the tool that it is . The name of the company written on your shock will get you to their web site, where you can cruise through a selection of same design lifts to find one that has a lighter lift rating (lbs). The ones Phil sells seems around 60lbs lift each, see if you can find one that is rated for less and give them a try :).

Good luck man!
