Hoover Syclone

Whas up everyone.

im here to answer all the questions and rumors about our truck. YES we did sell it. YES it was running and NO there was no problems at all with the truck. a guy came to adamsville, showed interest and bought it. i am not at liberty to say who bought it or where its going bc this was part of the deal with him buying the truck. he wanted it to be very low keyed so thats the way we are going to keep it for now. i will say if you run into a random syclone going down the street that sounds like a V8, ya better not try him! :)

we are selling all the extra parts we have and we have many. If you have something you need just call us bc we've probably got it! LOL

http://www.dochoover.com/gallery/PARTS-FOR-SALE

not pictured is a set of stock tires, spare, exhaust pipe, hood, transfer case and seats. ALL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

notice there are not prices on any of the new pics bc WE WANT TO GET RID OF IT ALL!!! make an offer and we wll more than likely take you up on it as long as its within reason.

For those of you interested in the parts please email my dad at drhoover@centurytel.net. In the subject please put ur name and part(s) you are interested in. This will cut down on the confusion for him in sorting out what each person wants. also if 1 person wants to buy it all, this can definately be arranged! :)

Just in case anybody wants to know, dad has bought a Super Stock GT truck that we plan on racing class A, B or C in the NHRA circuit. if you want to see some pictures of it, they are posted on dochoover.com here:

i will be at the nationals this year to see everybody but i hate not having a truck to race. the thing i hate the most though is not being able to beat up on robert and the rest of the fast trucks! LOL cya in KC!

I bet the new truck can't kick Roberts trucks ass.

That is a challenge to bring the new one to nats.

Seriously it was great and I will miss seeing that truck. I know Robert is a little disapointed to not be able to run side by side with the truck after all these years of friendly challenges, but he also understands things change.

Looking forward to seeing you at nats.

any chance you can convince the new owner(s) to bring it to NATS? Are they "syty" owners or just street-truck owners?

Sory to find out that the rumers were true, to bad you never got to make that 8 sec run

Good luck with the new truck, looks pretty sweet.

Btw i sent your dad an email about a couple things.

yeah we wanted to do it but how close can you get without really doin it! 9.004 dang! :) amazing the response for running 0.015 sec faster

the new truck is a lot better truck with A LOT less work. its safer and we can definately race it competitively more places. its a N/A LS2 with under 400 HP. runs 10.00-10.30 depending on the weight and class.

i dont think it either but thats apples and oranges.

the new truck is pretty much ready to go with the exception of fine tuning the fuel map.

i doubt he would be interested in bringing it. and YES he does street race it. :D

the truck was detuned on the launch and ran 6.19 the 1st time he took it to the track. it leaves with 1.5X 60' now so it doesnt haze the tires when he's on the street. runs pretty much the same after the launch as it did B4 just isnt as violent on the launch

i'll see everybody at KC

 I will offer my help on tuning at nats if you need for the new truck:lol:

Good luck with the new ride, I suspect we may see each other more as you will be running in the same class as Jeremy runs (SS). He travels down your way often although he does say Memphis is the roughest track he goes to.

Matt, Doc, Bubba....the rest of the Hoover crew....You guys will be missed for sure! Hanging out with you guys at the Nats is part of what I looked forward to every year. Maybe you guys will miss being the big dog and youll get back into another Sy someday. Hopefully it wont be the last we ever see of your old truck either.

Matt, I always enjoyed reading your posts, but I must ask the question no one else is asking. Why did you sell the truck, were you guys bored with it or the offer was too good to past up?

Thank Again for paving the way.

THANX! im gonna miss drivin that truck but i know it will be A LOT easier on my dad with this truck now. I really enjoy going to KC every year and should enjoy it this year also! i dont know if our old truck will turn up but whoever lines up next to it im sure wont forget it!

thanx to you too! always enjoyed being on this site!

the truck was getting to be more work than fun! we were never bored with the truck, it was always exciting! the offer was good, not near what we had in it but it was enough.

we honestly believe the truck is still the fastest sy period. not to take anything away from what robert has done, but we had so many problems with the suspension with that truck it was ridiculous! if the truck would have ever run straight launching like we did, i think we could have run some 8.70s or 8.80s on 25 lbs of boost, no nitrous no nuthin but straight HP!

the funny thing is we learned a lil about the truck and suspension after we already sold it and i really wish we could have had a chance to make these adjustments b4 we sold it. but HEY, thats the way it goes.

thanks to everybody who supported us over the years and thanx to those who kept pushing their truck and competing with us to make us wanna go faster.

as for now dad and i are about to jump on the CALLAHAN bandwagon. i think it would be an eye opening experience to keep an eye on his truck........

MATT

fwiw the new S-10 ran 10.29 at memphis the other day with a 283 HP LS1. i think it took over 750 in the sy :)

Re: Hoover Syclone

In superstock cars/classes are based on factory hp ratings. Not sure exactly how it all works, Jeremy knows the rules in and out.

It has something with shipping weight and factory HP rating. You then end up in a class (for example HA or GA) GT is I think the truck class since the trucks never came with v8's NHRA built a special class for them.

You then have an index, you MUST dial atleast that fast. You can dial in faster.

Now if you race someone in your class then it is heads up.

It gets more confusing, but I doubt Hoovers new truck only makes 283 hp but that is the rating used for NHRA purposes.

Also on the old sy, I agree Matt if the suspension would have been dialed in better, 8.70's were very doable. Hindsight though.
