How do syty's do in bad weather???

OK, I know every syty owner out there can't live in southern California, Arizona, or someplace like that. I live in Utah, and am SERIOUSLY considering a syty as a daily driver. This winter has been HELL trying to get around in my 2WD T/A.

So what gives? I would think they would do OK in moderate snow pack or icy conditions considering they are AWD, am I right? Lemme know what's up.

TIA!

I live in Wisconsin and I store my Sy over the winter, and during summer I only drive it on weekends. I have to say that all of you who drive your SyTys year round, I ENVY YOU!! That would be f***ing awesome to drive it every day especially in thick snow. What else can I say? I found a beat up Sy locally for $9500-10000, I was considering getting that as a daily driver but I probably can't swing it. Would be another dream come true though..

In the rain SyTy's run with the best of them... Snow and Ice they do well w/ one exception... If it's really slick out those 8" wide stock rims will cause you to slip'n'slied around more than a set of 6" rims... Buy the truck but switch out stock rims for winter rims/tires if you can afford it...

Well, all i have to say is my screen name says it all.....I can personally vouch for the 0-60 n 4.6 in the rain! Ya mysy does well in the RAIN!

well i'm in seattle also.

in the rain they do well (depending on tire) and in snow well depends. if you get one lowered... well... i was driving once and there was a dump of about a foot of snow once. and let me tell you... i just bottomed out. i was literally sitting on the snow w/ all 4 spinning. had to dig out and that was when i wasn't lowered. so i'd say it's fine as long as you don't go in anything more than 8" or so. then you start to have problems. and as the other guy said... in snow, thin/narrow tires are better than wide tires.

As was stated below ~8" of the white stuff they do fine. Just dont try to break any land speed records in it when the roads are crappy.. Leave that to the snowmobiles..

The stock 245s make nice skis once you get em slidin.. Got a wrinkled ty to prove it.

Mine is my daily driver. I've never spun my tires in the rain unless I did it on purpose. As far as driving it in the snow, it kicks ass!!! I've had it out in OVER a foot of snow. As long as you know "how to drive in the snow, you'll have no problems. My DeQuick lower heat exchanger acts like a snow plow.

Cool, it sounds like I should be just fine as long as I don't do anything stupid. Now, is anyone selling a Syclone for around 12k?

Check the want ads on http://www.syty.org and traderonline , you should be able to find a decent one with around 50K miles for that price.

I have driven my Ty in the snow and it was FUN. The AWD acts different than RWD in a slide. But it is harder to get it to kick out. A Ty will move in the snow pretty decent. Get some decent all season tires or what I wanted to do - was to get some snow tires - just to see what it was like. 285hp + traction in the snow - might be kinda fun. I have 255/40 17 Kuhmos all the way around and the only snow it saw was Wednesday when I had to move it from the middle of the garage to the side so the little woman could park. I am not really looking forward to these tires in the snow. So it will probably just sit. Maybe.

I did a 360, actually it was more like a 1080..haha, into a snow bank at 25mph and my cladding didnt even get a scratch.

...damn near ripped my license plate frame off the truck, but the cladding was fine
