How do you brake boost?

Hi guys.

Need a little help. I have a almost std Sy and I have no idea whats the procedure when you wanna do
a quick launch.
I press the brake and wait a little while with full throttle. But how long time and what should I be aware of?
And how hard is a brake boost on our trucks, does it wear the truck up?

Someone experienced with this?

Re: How do you brake boost?

Every truck is going to be different on best PSI/RPM/ETC to launch at, so you'll need to learn your truck.

SOP seems to be:
1. Put the truck in neutral
2. Rev it a few times to and press down on the brakes as much as possible to build brake pressure
3. Keep your foot on the brake
4. Shift to DRIVE (NOT OVER DRIVE)
5. Bring your RPMS up
6. Let off the brake and enjoy the ride.

Does it wear on the trucks? Absolutely. Every boost launch is playing a round of russian roulette with the truck.

You rev it in neutral while pressing down on the brake pedal to build up some vacuum in the brake booster.

Oh yeah, forgot that about the overdrive! Thanks :) And why rev it at neutral?

You rev it in neutral to build brake vacuum so the brakes will hold better.

After revving in Neutral make sure you let the engine speed fall back to idle (~800 RPM) before you shift into D or you will ruin your transmission.

Re: How do you brake boost?

Of course, thanks :)

I actually were running today slowly and suddenly it wouldnt shift from 2, to 3/4 gear.
Suspecting the clutch is finished....

Also wait for the transmission to engage (ie feel), before you floor it to build boost. I tried to rush it at the track once and the transmission made the most awful sound.

Drive engages the two over runs clutches. It also allows you to goto into OD at the end of the track. For whatever reason if you the transmission in OD the whole time it does not do a wot shift to OD.

I need to shift into OD, torwads the end of the 1/4 mile, run out of RPM if I leave it in D.
Haha, got it. For some reason, the way it was stated in all caps, it made it seem like something bad for the transmission if you tried to launch in OD.

What does your truck run in the 1/4? ---

i was having problems boost launching . i did what everybody said and it still wouldnt launch . you must have the brakes slammed hard in drive and just give it gas and build up the pressure you want to launch with . i launch at like 8 - 10 psi on the guage . it will launch . my problem was i wasnt on the brakes hard enough and i couldnt launch . it does help if you put it in neutral and slam brakes and rev the engine a little bit , i think it builds pressure in brakes to hold better .DONT NEUTRAL DROP IT . it is a great takeoff but it does wear on your truck . if your truck dont launch you could have a problem with turbo or a leak or something .find out if your truck does launch make sure it runs like it should ,but dont go launching at every red light or things will break
