Mine just got back on the road. It was maybe 3 years from the posts of the original owner. I bought it with lots of parts in boxes. 2 killers for these trucks are mods and more mods and more mods and more mods and then there's inevitable too much boost for the tune. Mine has more stuff on it than I would have ever bought but then its not like I am not happy now its all done and the road.

Keep them stock and dont get on it unless you have a wideband and you know its tuned right would be my 2 cents. Only thing better than that is spending over 20k in parts and its finally done!

My truck broke last year sometime in the summer. #3 piston broke. I still put like 3k miles on it like that and just drove it here and there. I pulled the motor and everything on Jan 15th of this year. So 10 months and 12 days its been sitting unable to move.

I don't think thats bad considering what others have posted.:lol:

I still lack the 2 big ticket items on my build. Headers, and intake. Aside from that only thing left will be machine work on the block and then putting it together and dropping it back in.

mine has been down since purchase....it has been approx 6 years...had bad main bearings due to someone jacking up on oil pan and cutting off flow to the main bearings. i have moved houses and had to move my $15k paperweight. It has been fixed but due to major motor mods requires substaintial amount of computer tuning, if i dont sell over the winter it will get running this spring. Story of my life....i have owned these things not running more than i have owned when running....what a pain in the @$$.

I better not say this because Im probably asking for something to break but....Both of mine are in good running order. The Ty has a slight vibration at 70 mph that I havent figured out yet. I need to fix a silly door lock issue and the RT window stopped working in the Sy. The Sy could also use tires. Everything else is good. Not too bad if I do say so myself.:tup:

I am up there with Dave P on the prize for being down the longest (yea bragging is fun when you can laugh at yourself :lol: ), dead since 2000. Can't even blame myself or an engine builder, bad engineered part, SpeedPro lifters. You will like this, horizontal bar (that keeps the lifter's roller facing the cam lobes) broke, letting the rollers go drifting on the cam lobes. Amazing how just one cylinder with no cam lobes can kill the total engine power, dead slow. Been too busy working on other people's car (and life), been on lots of other car forums though, all with the same feelings I see here some times, these are money pits but not really, I don't think many people with running cars come to complain or look for help on the internet and fill up the forums with good stories about ownership :tup:.....if its running good, then I would spend more time driving it then being on the internet, no wait, who can leave well enough alone, we are always looking to mod or tweak something .

Mine has been down since late 99'. Guy I bought it from blew the engine and let it sit ever since.

I feel for you guyd out there but i do understand that sometimes it's best to walk away for a bit.


This coming may i will own my SY for a yr. well in the past yr i hav had to replace the prop shaft, R/R rear u-joints/ balance, rebuild the front diff, new rear axle bearings/seals, both front wheel bearings and a pass side cv axle, oh and just had to install a new Dist just last nite due to it crapping out making me late to work, three abs speed sensors.


so i have spent a very good portion of time working on this thing. But i had a vibration from hell that i couldn't find keeping me form driving it and enjoying it.


BTW the truck has been on alift(cinder blocks) more time torn apart than my GN has been in the last 10yrs.


But i can say i own SY2441 even i work on it alot since i have bought it.

Kinda complicated for me. I bought it in Feb '05 with a blown engine, and it supposedly sat for around 6 years when I bought it. Rebuilt the engine, got a few break-in miles on it and it caught fire in May '05 - and has been sitting ever since. So if what I was told is accurate, and aside from a few miles to break-in the new engine, it's been sitting for around 10 years. Geez. That's really depressing now that I'm actually thinking about it. I'm hoping to have it done (well, they're never really "done") and at Nats this year.

My old white/grey was down most of the year between the '98 and '99 Nats. I didn't have a house back then, maybe that's why I had more time to work on it because the white one was a lot more work than the blue one and it took a lot less time. The mortgage payment might complicate things as well.... :roll:

My Black Typhoon was stolen April 1 , 1999. Recovered it the next day. Ran it at the drag strip one last time. 11.85 @113 . Got kicked out of the track, and the engine was not happy. Took the engine out , and its sat since then.

The Syclone , its been down a few years. Tranny #3 .. Something like that. The Syclone broke the tranny during shooting for FNF3, and haven't got to it in a while. Just parked it in the warehouse.

They Ty has been though 2 engines and maybe 5 transmissions from Dec 1992 - April 1999. The Syclone though a couple engines and a few transmissions.

No time, no money. Busy with GT-R's. Busy with racing. One day I might put one or two of them back together.

I shouldve just kept quiet. The fuel pump died in the Ty sometime around the first of the year. :roll:

I have owned my truck since 2002 and it's only been down once for 2 days while I put a new fuel tank, pump, sender in it. But I only drive it maybe 300mi a year.
