generally speaking, the bigger you go with a turbo, a higher stall converter will help you lanuch better because it will help you to make more boost at the launch. bigger turbos don't spool as quickly as smaller ones and thats the reason higher stall converters help

you would need to swap your conv. the 14cm 20g turbo has to have a larger conv to make any boost at launch.

i have a stock tc with it now and i can build 7psi at the line no problem. this is with and external gate. does that mean my truck might have a higher stall converter? whats a good way to tell?

You can remove the cover for the TC and then look for markings on it. There are 4 bolts on the cover, one you can only get to by removing the front of the front prop-shaft.

how does it run coming out a 7 pounds? does it bog? does it spin the tires? if it doesn't bog and spins the tires you might just leave the converter alone. unless you want to spin the tires more theres no use in having a higher stall. how many rpm is it making before it creeps?

ya man if you can spool a 20g 14cm out of the hole on a stock motor I bet you have something other than a stock conv. what rpm do you stall at now?

like les said you wayu just want to leave it be for now.

if you're spinnin the tires at 7 pounds of boost and its not boggin why would you want a looser converter to make more boost and spin em even worse? unless you do something to get a lot better traction, save the money of a new converter and buy something else. maybe make the rear brake conversion for another pound of boost or two. or get some new cd's or something else with the money. maybe marvin gay or the temptations???? 8)
