Re: How to install stock arm coil overs

Those are all 2wd spindles. I'm asking about the 4wd 2" drop spindle they offer. Has anyone tried them, are they a good way to go ?

Where did you see them?, and do you have a part number, no one's used them because they are something new that just came out, or there not available,
I've never heard of 4WD drop spindles.

Bumping an old thread only for informational purposes. If you are looking for Hypercoil springs, any length and size and # that Hypercoil makes, check out www.evasivemotorsports.com

They are in CA, I ordered 9" 2.25 ID 550# springs for $69 each. They shipped same day and got to me in 2 days. They literally carry tons of springs, check them out.

What are the recommended part numbers for the QA1's? Whats the stock collapsed and extended lengths of our shocks now? Guess any good spring rated around 550lbs is the best option?

Re: How to install stock arm coil overs

It's the 402 version that everyone got, including myself.

One this to note, the QA1's spring seat and cap ONLY accept a 2.5" ID spring. You can only use a 2.25" spring in this application because the 2.5" springs will be too big to fit.

So, take the QA1 spring seat and cap to a machine shop and have them milled to 2.23".

Also, it would be my reccomendation to get nothing less than 9" springs. 550-600# spring rate. Also order the spherical eye mounts, I think the part number is listed In This thread but it's be comp8T or something.

Go to the hardware store and get 20-25 1/2" bolt washers, as you will need these to help spacing mount on the shock tower.

Curious, does anyone have a recommendation on the length and rate of the rear spring?

Rear? As of right now there aren't any viable REAR coilover conversions that I know of. I know sportmachines is working on one but it still partly utilizes a leaf type spring combo

Front Spindles 2" — 33004 McGaughy's

This product does not fit your
1992 GMC Typhoon Base 6 Cyl 4.3L

This product does not fit your
1991 GMC Syclone Base 6 Cyl 4.3L

Regardless their is probably a really good chance that they actually do fit. I use 2002 Blazer knuckle on my 94 without issue. There are also a number of other guys that use the same knuckle on their syty for the twin piston caliper.

I think i rememeber reading somewhere here on the forum that sportmachines had ordered a set of these and are checking them out to see if they are ok for our trucks..

I'm using the 600# w/QA-1's on my '91 4dr and after 10,000 miles they are great. It weighs 3600#.

Sorry, didn't see you said REAR spring...never mind!
