How well do 18" nitto 555r drag radials work over reg street tires? 60ft traction

I have 18x9.5 magnesium vette wheels to put tires on and i'd really like to put some drag radials on the back. Are they worth the xtra money? How much better do they hook over a reg nitto street tire? Does anyone know a realistic number of miles i could get on them? The truck is street driven, making somwhere close to 500hp

nitto's are not for awd cars/trucks they need to be heated up to much to work bfg 18s or 17 mt rad are the only way to go. well 15 or 16"ers are the best way to go but if you have larger brakes and such then bfg or mt is the only real choice.

Agreed, in general Drag Radials aren't nearly as effective as they are on RWD vehicle because of this. Somedays, I think I should try some snow tires, because some of the compounds on those seem to almost melt when driven on summer days.

Im using the BFG drag radials on the back 315/35.18 on zo6 rims. They work well with minimum heat up. My 60 fts are usual in the 1.57 range.

Stock tires work better than the 555r's for the reasons mentioned above (I tried them). I hear they work great if you can heat cycle them which is generally a problem for us.

I run the BFG DR's now and I think they are the best compromise for traction and street driving. They hold better than regular street tires and don't throw too much debris around. Tire life is terrible but that's usually the case with DR's.

I think the best traction probably would come from the Mickey Thompson ET street tires. I know they are really soft and have minimal tread which makes them a PIA to drive on the street, though. Also, there's the old saying for SyTy's that too much traction isn't always a good thing (i.e. broken drivetrain parts).

Whats my best bet for a reg street radial tire that has good traction? I hear the bfg street tire hooks well. Again in 18"

i had 275 35 bfg dr fronts and 315 30 rear and they hooked great when warmed up like 15-20min street driving or a nice burn out in 18" of coarse

What about reg street tires? which ones grab the best? The bfg dr's sound great but way too much $ for a few thousand miles for a daily driver, thats why i considered the nitto dr"s. I read they last 8-10k miles
