Howdy, friends!

Just wanted to say hi. After 15 years of whishing I finally joined the Sy/Ty group! I purchased '93 Ty #1440 at a salvage auction a couple weeks ago. It's white/argent and in decent shape. I was able to contact the PO and get some information about the truck and I'm very happy with what he told me. He said the engine had 400mi on it, and was supposed to put out around 425hp. It has KB headers, intake, and chip. The trans has been built and has a stall converter. He upgraded the driveshafts to handle the new power. He also added an aftermarket heat exchanger for the intercooler. I don't know the brand, but I have seen them online before. It's got an adjustable wastegate and FPR. He said he has a folder of recipts that he'll give me along with the factory service manuals. He also told me that the wreck was nothing more than a large rock falling off of the mountain and hitting him! The damage to the truck isn't that bad, but the insurance company couldn't find the parts! I'm looking forward to the experience of owing a Typhoon. Still seems almost sureal that I have one, after wanting one for so long! I won't make it to Nats this year, but I'm gonna try for next time around. Hope to see some of you on the road!

Re: Howdy, friends!

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing from guys I've been talking to. I think I'll have Westers do a tune for me as I start to sort things out. Anybody have a stock chip(or other) I can run in the mean time?

Congrats on the purchase! Where are you at? Also, got any more pics of that '65 Galaxie in your avatar? Good buddy of mine had a '66, and got me kinda hooked.

Re: Howdy, friends!

I'm in western Kansas. 1/2 hour south of Goodland, KS if you've ever been through there on I-70, you got the idea. I do have a few more pics of the Galaxie, glad you noticed! I have a '65 that my great grandpa bought in '66 and gave to me in '94. It's a 4 door(after all it was a family car) but it's got a factory 390 4bbl w/manual trans. I kiped those pics on the internet because I plan to paint it white just like that car when I do the restoration. I can send the pics to you if you want.

Good observation on the chip, Palmer. It didn't pop in my brain that this is an OBD1 ride. I haven't had one of those for a while! But, maybe I'll sell the KB chip........or not.

Truck must not have been from Kansas if there was a mountain involved! ;)
Welcome to the club, sounds like you got yourself a nice Ty.

Re: Howdy, friends!

What auction was it from?

Welcome!

It came from Klode Salvage in Denver. Wrecked is the only way I can afford one!

ZMANN is out that way. Norton, KS I think?

I noticed on sportmachines that there was a Sy in Norton and one in Wakeeney. Both about 2hrs away. The closest Ty is in Colorado Springs. Most people out here don't know what they are. They are not useful on the farm!

Oh, come on. You've obviously never been here. Look on a map of Kansas for Mt. Sunflower! No fooling, it really exists! It's about 20mi from my house. It's the highest point in Kansas! Now I'm going to spoil it, but I'll save you a road trip, it looks just like all the other hills, it just happens to be the highest! And, you're right, the Ty is from CO.

I'll get a photobucket account or something and get some pics posted in the next couple days.

Thanks a bunch, bro. You are a gentleman and a scholar! And secondly, thank you for your service to our country. We all owe you a debt of gratitude.

Ah yes! The white/gray one! Good deal, I didn't have a number on it but Jimmy and I both have posted it.

Re: Howdy, friends!

It was sold with just a BOS, no title. A situation I have resolved. I was afraid that it would be parted out and I hated to see that happen. But you can rest assured that it will ride again under my ownership! When I bought it I didn't know anything about the mods or the new engine. Needless to say, I got a pretty good deal.

Re: Howdy, friends!

Easy for sure. The frame is a little bent in the 's', but I put a used tie rod end and a brake line on it and drove it off the trailer!(after I got some air in the tire of course) The tire rubs the fender well when you turn due to the frame damage, but a buddy of mine has a body shop and he's gonna put it on the frame machine for me. Hopefully he can do it next week! I've got the core support, fender and hood, already white, ready to go on. I still have to get a grille and the cladding. The bumper cover is repairable, but I may replace it and keep this one in the attic if I get a good deal. I'm pretty stoked! By the way, if anyone knows the bastard that pryed the 'Typhoon' decal off the glove box door at the auction, let me know. I'd like to 'talk' to him....... That kind of behavior gets you banned from the auction, but it might get you something else from the buyer.
