So, I have already introduced myself to the syty community but rarely post and havent really done much more then browse around. Anyways I have now owned my Syclone #262 for roughly a year and it has only been on the road about 3 months of that. It started resting on jackstands back in august when I got 2 new CV axles to replace the torn and dry jointed ones.
Im sure many of you guys can empathize with me, But I finally get why these things stay on stands and dont get driven much. As I mentioned before It started with CV axles. THen I thought to myself hmmm I really should replace the steering shaft and the steering bushing to get rid of some slop in the steering. So off comes the original steering shaft and a new steering Bearing goes in. Well to get more room to the cv I unbolted the fenderwell and then the ABS. Then I thought to myself, "why do I even need ABS and I should just get rid of that!" So I remove the ABS system. Also being a sort of electrical nerd I also couldnt just leave the wires hanging so I traced out the ABS system and got rid of the wiring. While tracing out the wiring I noticed the mess underneath the dash so I of course started digging through that and cleaning that up. Meanwhile the cv shaft still hasnt been replaced, just removed. So then I move back to the cv axle and figure im gonna replace all the ball joints as well because the Ball joints looked like they were hurting and the upper ball joint on the drivers side was torn apart completely. So now I have all new ball joints. I recieved the ZQ8 steering box and FivetoDrive's steering shaft and I just put those in this afternoon.
So none of all this started out today or a week ago or a month ago, but back in August. I recently got out of the navy in August and now Im a full time student taking 18 units this semester and attempting 14 units this summer. So I have been a bit busy and get about 4 hours of work time to the truck a week.
SO.... To conclude this rant/thought. I now understand how these things sit. I am sure there are many of you like me that just cannot leave well enough alone. I have so many different things in the works on the truck that its often frustrating. I dont even want to think about all the stuff I have sitting in my room waiting for me to get it into the truck. This truck is often times overwhelming because I want it to be perfect. I never had this problem with any of my previous vehicles. Anyways, the previous vehicles also were not GMC Syclones. Ya thats what I got.:rotf:
