A lot of people used to try an clone them by getting the twin turbo hood and mesh wheels. Did you see 2 polished aluminum intercoolers on top of the motor when you opened the hood? That would be a dead giveaway

Yes, I think so it was 7 or 8 years ago I looked at it and the sy without motor...so sad but it still could be a clone Idk, just going by what people say and not knowing everything about them

It is such a waste! whats up with the door handles on the red one? Look like 2nd gen s-10 handles. Oh and congrads for proving all the doubters wrong, including myself.

I couldn't figure out what kind of handles, I don't think they are any I've seen on any Chevy truck and I don't think they have locks in them... I wanted to take more pics just didn't want to get in any Shit over it...

I don't know if Callaway did it on all cars, but a friend of a friend has over 100 Vettes. When I was at his house a good 5 years ago, or more. I was able to look at 3 or 4 Callaways that he had. The one thing I did notice was that the rear bumpers, instead of having CORVETTE molded into it, it said CALLAWAY instead.

Where's DaveP. He's the C4 expert. He might know some more.

It's cool my man....we all say things in frustration we would be better off not saying. I'd be peeved if someone questioned me as well on what I am sure I saw.

Here's some facts for thought though on the vette:

The CHMSL atop the rear glass indicates this car is a 1986. Reeves Callaway's shop in Old Lyme, Connecticut did NOT offer a Twin Turbo upgrade until 1987. It looks like a clone to me because it is missing the badging and the body kit BUT stranger things have surfaced before.
Callaway was also not sure how many alfa gtv6 came out of his shop nor do i believe he kept the vin #'s. At least 5 of the first Callaway alfa's had no badges and this was from 84 to 86. I don't believe they kept good records in the early years.
It could be an early prototype or just an aftermarket kit.

Your off on your facts.

First 86-89 C4 Coupe have rear glass CHMSL. The hood on this car would indicate a 87 Twin Turbo (one year only). In 1987 their was no Callaway body kit, their was an aero body kit in 1989, some where retrofitted, but the Body kit was shown in the picture in this thread is not the Callaway Body Kit. The only rim option was Magnesium Dynamag wheels, some 87's came with the stock wheels.

The VIN is not going to prove anything. If you have access to GM data base, most Callaway TT will have the B2K, but some don't. You could contact Callaway directly but they charge money to verifying the Car.

I have never seen an aftermarket 87 Twin Turbo hood

Agreed, Dave. Should have surfed the internet to get up to date info before posting :).

I considered buying a Callaway in 1986 and was advised to wait until 1987 because of some notable changes. The big one was the introduction of the TT. Second was the cosmetic changes (Hood, wheel options, as 17" was "big" back then and the subtle Callaway badging on the door pillar base) and last was the removal of the CHMSL to increase wind flow down force (?). Never did pursue buying one after that and was providing ancient "factual" information from memory - ha.

Upon review, what the OP viewed may be a genuine Callaway. Sorry for speaking out of turn. Sad any way you look at it to see him desirous of buying one of the Syclones and restoring it only to be denied by a ruthless owner.

so sad, I want to cry

I had to see it in person, so hard for me to deal with. You guys have to understand I was into cars as long as I can remember, and I seen the syclone commercial when I was 11 I've always wanted one and last year my dream came true. To see this kind of injustice is one of the worst things I've ever seen and hope I never have to see it again..

Nice work man, kudos. Way to show those haters, that's how it is around here..way to prove your self. I never doubted you, but I cant say I fully believed you either. Those pics make me sad, owners like that should be stripped of their vehicles and given a huffy to ride for the rest of their lives. Any who, good work, Nice thread tags btw,
