check this....Carfax reports back as a 91 2wd 4 cylinder S10....
heres the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1833422573

I emailed the guy this:
I am located in Texas and wanting to buy a syclone.....i ran carfax on that
VIN and it came back as a 91 2wd 4 cylinder S10....not a Syclone...is this
the correct VIN?.......At the price that it is going for I have the cash
but I am looking for a Syclone.....

and got back this:
All Syclones started out as a 2wd 4 cylinder s-10 then were converted you can pull up any other syclone and run its vin and will see the same thing

so what gives....is he lying......i dont want to buy a piece of crap and get screwed..

all syclone titles started as a gmc 4.3 if you run car fax they show up as unassembled, or at least they used to if you want the vin of a syclone here
1gdct14z8m8802916 thats mine Ken

Yep, that info is not correct.

Every truck I have seen shows incomplete, but does have 4.3 listed on 4cyl.

I suspect it has been revined.. possbly stolen sy, with new vin #...

or rebuild..

either way not worth as much as syclone, and if it is stolen, be worth getting it returned to rightful owner, as that owner may be one of US..

Apparently sometime in its life there was a serial # change we are trying to find out all the information.

would it be possible to get the correct vin number for thtruck the vin stated on the auction is incorrect, It is showing as a 4 cyl truck this is not correct it should have a Z for the 8th digit Ken

I just got tis back from them (upper part) hmmm the truth is starting to be revealed the lower part is my question ken

if the frame hasn't been changed, that vin # should be readable with some research, mirrors, and digging on dirt...

I wonder if local sheriff or somebody would check it out for you. Be interesting if he did, and found it stolen, Dealer might have to eat there investment in the truck.

Could turn into an interesting story quickly.

more then likely the blame would revert back to the person whom traded it to the dealer, they are pretty good at passing the buck and covering their asses ken

That isn't an original Sy. All sy's have 1GDCT14Z_m880xxxx or 1GDCT14Z_m530xxxx Vins. All syty were shipped to PAS to finish assembly and will come up as an 'incomplete' through carfax.

I agree, sounds like a VIN switch. Let's see how long before the auction is stopped.

Not 100% true. Not ALL Syclones have those vins. Mine has a VIN of 1GDCT14Z4M8526153 I was told by the ex-VP of PAS that mine is a Pre-Prototype, built before they even went into production. I'd bet that there are a few other different VIN combinations too. But all the ones I've seen have the Z vin, so sounds like someone is trying to pull a fast one.

When I bought my Syclone back in March, yes, they were showing as INCOMPLETE, but since then I've run my Syclone and it showed up as Syclone. Seems like CARFAX updated their files. Not sure if it's still that way though.

Just my $.02

I supose it could be an extensive swap, it would have been an expensive one though. In all the pictures I saw the Sy specific parts are all seem to be there.

I thought the dozen or so 53 were preproduction, I wouldn't be surprised it there were more than 2998 91's that everyone keeps using as production numbers whith all these pre and early production Sy's. Anyways, the Z in the VIN indicates 'turbo'.

I don't think that is accurate either. I don't remember the exact definition of the Z motor - but you can get it in a regular s-truck. Z is also a designation in small blocks as well if I'm not mistaken.

I doubt they removed all the parts off the Sy and put them on that VIN'ed frame. They probably just drilled out the VIN on windshield and pop-riveted it into the (questionable) Syclone.

i think he made a typo error... talking to ian maybe? heh

all sytys start with 1GDC, whereas he put 1GTC

pull a carfax again and use D instead of T, see what you come up with.

nice alignment on the sy decals.... and nice IC hose mods...

Your right, I was wrong. Z is FI 4.3. No small blocks V8 that I can find, unless that code has been use recently.

..

Dunno if you would be interested but I found this...

http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/...advanced=n&color=&car_year=1991&ac_afflt=MAOL

Might be more work than youre looking for but if you have parts to repair laying around or know someone who does it could be fixed.

Price seems a just a bit high to me but maybe they would deal. Dunno

hrm. a few months ago there was an ad in the San Antonio express news(I'm a few hours from el paso) for a Syclone in El Paso. Called the guy and talked to him, told him I had one and was looking for another. He was supposed to call the next day so we could set up a meeting to check out the truck...he never called.
I wonder if its the same truck, and is in fact a stolen or rebuilt truck. The fact that its in El Paso erks me.
