Hi, I am Jason and I live in England. I hope I will be able to learn loads from others on here but I am not sure if I am on the right site as I have recently bought a chevy astro with a syclone engine in it.Should I be on this site or one that just deals with Astro's?
Information is hard to find here but I have heard that this may well be a limited production model rather than a conversion. Either way I love it even if it has a few problems.
I will try to post some pics ( but i dont think I have permission )for you as it looks wild compared to the usual thing you see here.
If anyone could confirm what my vehicle is then that would be great as I need to know so that I can get some manuals for it and modify it further.

YESSS!! I've heard of the Astro van SyTy conversion. That's freakin' weird, but cool. I wanna see pics. Someone was just telling me about this thing the other day..

As for ID'ing you van, we need the VIN off of it so we can find out exactly what you have.

"I" have never heard of a factory Astro-Sy but that doesn't mean anything as I am not very well informed. :rotf:

Cool... I've seen an astro with a sy transplant a few times over the course of the last two years up on ebay .. hell of a sleeper.

I'd say your on the right sight if you need info about the ecm, engine, trans, transfer case and rear ends..

if I recall, isn't that thing a rwd? i wanna see they sytro van. (i guess As-Sy doesn't sound good afterall). fast minivan? sweeet :tup:

SyTy AWD was borrowed from the Astrovan. So yeah, they can be AWD.

Hi and thanks for the welcome and sorry for the avatar. I thought it would be ok as there is no bits showing and it is a pic from my shops showroom and not just an excuse for a pervy pic, I will see what else I can put up.
Also, how do I get permission for attachments as I can't post them at the moment and would love to show you guys what I have got in the hope that you can shed some light on my Astro.
It is rear wheel drive and when running ok the tyres light up nice. It has a body kit on it including roof spoiler, twin exhaust, lexus style rear lights, tinted windows and air suspension on the front that looks great.The alloys are 17" alloy something that I have lost 2 centres to and could do with identifying them, they look a bit hot rod style! with a twist design.
I will post the problems that I have with it in the relevant sections of this site in hope that the experience of these engines that members here have will get me up and running.

Just been thinking about this name problem and I think I am going to call it my SYTRO as mentioned.
I am sure everyone will get used to that name for my interbreed of a vehicle.

I forgot to mention that my astro is a seven seater and not a van, this might help shed some light on the subject.

Well, that's definitely not a factory job, IMO. But the only thing I don't like about it is the front bumper... and maybe the taillights. Otherwise, that's pretty freakin' cool.

I love it - i even like the front cover and the cut outs in the front for air entry.

Looks sweet - something that would be cool to haul a bunch of people around in.

Thanks for the comments. The Astro is as I bought it, The engine bay looks a bit messy due to our weather and the lack of TLC. Everything sits as if it was meant to be there but a performance air filter has been added and some blue silicone pipe. The only bit that makes me suspicious is the air intake for the ac/blower on the left but besides that all of the wiring loom looks original with no additions or alterations.
The plan is to get it running properly and perhaps improve the performance a bit, then a full respray and a makeover of the interior with 4 Konig bucket seats ( got these already )and a loud soundsystem in the back with Soundstream equipment( got all the sound ready to go in).Sounds are a main part of my business and loud vans I love.The wheels I might change as I have lost some of the center caps and also cause they are hard to maintain with our climate.
Does anyone know of any other similar vehivles as mine and what performance they can get without too much work?
