I think my A/C is going

I don't for sure because afterall it is a black truck with black interior and its been 100+ here. But when it's 90 or below the A/C is cold.

I noticed that with the engine on and at idle, the a/c clutch clicks on and off a lot, is that normal? Maybe 5 second intervals..

Is it time to put in a replacement? Do I need to go use a shop for the R12 capture? Should I switch to 134a if I need a new compressor? anything involved in the switch that I should know about?

thanks guys. This thing is starting to nickle and dime me, and that new subarua ;-o is looking better and better for the wife and dog.

sounds like is is gettng low, you dont need to change the compresor if you retrofit but more than likley that is where you leak is. i have got 36deg. from just retrofiting and turning down the low side switch to about 18psi.

and if your going that far you should use a parralell flow condenser only 100 bucks and it cools %30 better pn#52482105 AC delco 15-6956

i think they quit using the adjustable ones in 93 from the pics i have seen.(another diff from the 92-93) but just un plug it and there will be a screw, counter clockwise will lower the preasure

Ok, so now it's making a loud noise, that ressembles bearrings clattering. So it is deffinately the compressor.

And since I don't know anything about A/C, can someone break it down in lamen terms?

I want to purchase through NAPA for a friendly discount that is available.

The 91 Syclone shows one compressor (Delphi 30005), the 93 Typhoon shows another (Delphi 30002). The T15 and S15 have more selection but different part numbers. Is this just the difference Eric was speaking about with the manual adjustor? will it fit?

Some say w/ LT R4 A/C compress ? what's that?
The Sy/ty ones just say w/R4 A/C compressor.. Are these things the same? I figured that the sy/ty would be the same and the Jimmy would follow suit, so now I'm confused.

Also, I have access to a shop with a R12 evacuator/refiller for free, and since I've never done this, is this a hard process to do? I think I'd like to stick with R12, only because the EPA says it's bad, so it must be colder :)

thanks again

Also, a new filter Drier, accumulator, and orrifice is said to be needed as well?

The low preasure cycle switch i was taking about is on the reciver/drier. I would recomend getting a new one maby from gmpartsdirect, the re-man one's arent that great. pull out the oriffice and see how much crap is in there if it is a lot i would recommend flushing the evap and condenser. r-12 will always be better than 134, i work at a dealer and we quit buying it 2 years ago( if someone didnt turn off the valves on the tank when they got done oops there went $800) as far as the compressor almost any serp belt r4 will work since ours dont use the high preasure cut off on the back of the compressor. i had one from an old caddy, worked great till it leaked.
