Ic pump problem

qestion about my pump...other day i removed the metal ic lines and replaced with rubber hoses. I had trouble getting air out of the system. the previous owner had installed a atr kit and pump and ran the lines to the factory exchanger then to the pump then the atr back to reservoir. Figured i would change it later .well after several attempts i gave up...

today the pump won't come on. I hot wired the pump and tried the aldl method. the relay near the the distributor clicks every time i ground it. the Ic pump fuse is good with power on both sides of it.

but no power at the pump. traced the wire back to the fire wall. goes to a relay. the closest one to the washer fluid reservoir. checked it. the side where power comes in from the alternator shows power. the peg connected to the pumps harness show no power..I am assuming it needs replacing... this pump is really old from atr but i think its ok

Are there any other things i need to check???

Re: Ic pump problem

I don't have a2w stuff anymore on my truck but if the relay is clicking and you have no power to the pump even though the fuse is good then i'd suspect the relay is shot.

You could try apply 12 volts to the pump to ensure the pumps good then replace the relay

cool i'll try that today ..thanks

I don't remember what the relay looks like or where it's located off hand but you could possibly swap it out with another relay on the firewall just to see if you get power to the pump then.. that is if that relay is the same model as the others on the firewall.. I know the fuel pump and ac are the two relays above the brake booster and are interchangeable ... just an idea

Re: Ic pump problem

I guess I have two then...an atr kit with atr pump was installed before i got the truck. if i trace the wiring from the pump back..it goes to the firewall near the brake booster...theres a relay there closest to the fender...its got a hot wire from the alt with an inline fuse ( thats good ) to the relay...but no power on the out side....it also has the stock fuse behind the alt thats also still good...

I'll get that relay replaced tomorrow and let ya'll know...thanks for the input.

Re: Ic pump problem

fixed it the other day...was the factory relay by the distrutor...advance didn't have it...but i found it on autozones website and got the model # mr 9 its just a misc. for several other relays..they listed it on the site as 9.99$ auto zone is not nearby so had to go to napa and pay 14.99$
