Mephisto

These trucks are cursed
ive owned my truck for a lil over 2 years now, and i still consider myself a newbee. ive learned a hell of a lot of info off this site in the past, but there are still a lotta things i dont know, and ill be the first to admit that. i do appreciate those that take the time to offer help, rather than just bark at us to use the search! in hope that maybe we just might find an old topic that slightly resembles a problem we're having now.

everyone here says that its all in the tuning! but if you dont really know how to tune, how can you do it?

each person has a trade or something theyre good at. not every person on here knows a lot about how to work on cars, not to mention quirky syty's. me being one of those people, i guess i picked the wrong truck to start learning on. but this board has been tremendous help, and even though some of the gurus get annoyed with the same questions over and over (hell even i get annoyed with "can i put a turbo on my blazer?"), it is nice that some still offer to help anyway. i mean you guys that know a lot, i highly doubt you learned everything you know by going around online using the search feature on every board. i personally dont really think the search feature is that helpful. if i typed "knock" into the search field it'd bring back hundreds of different topics containing the word knock, and when you have dial up it gets a bit frustrating trying to search for anything.

IMO, this is a great site, probably the best one ive seen. the FAQs are very helpful in what to do/get, and the "how to's" that are around absolutely kick ass. as well as the tech articles. the only thing i think the site could use is a "troubleshooting" forum. with a list of common syty problems, with a list of solutions/things to check. to me that would eliminate the gurus having to answer the same shit all the time, and the newbees could find quick answers without having to sift through hundreds of old posts or repost the same questions asked a million times.

rather than have someone say "im having trouble with knock, how do i fix it" and someone replying with... "check your ignition"
how bout a list saying check plugs to make sure they are delco CR42TS, make sure they arent cracked, make sure theyre gapped properly etc. check plug wires, make sure theyre seated tight, and not burnt. check fuel psi, when was the last time you changed fuel filter? etc etc etc etc... stuff like that i think would be pretty helpful. that way people go through a checklist of things before they come to the site asking repeated questions.

have i been drinkin too much coffee again, and this is just a lame ass idea?

Re: if i may offer a suggestion?

Troubleshooting is a function of repairing. We have a forum for that.

There is a "FAQ"

We have a tuning forum.

We do not however have a grammar forum, unfortunately.

How To / repair is where troubleshooting should probably be posted.
There or Tuning if its more fine tuning.

Why complicate things anymore???
Its already riding hte ragged edge.
