Project is looking really good so far, can't wait to see the finished product :)

For the 6.0 manifold bolts, if there is some of the bolt sticking out try to thread 2 nuts on and lock them tight together. Then turn the nut closest to the head. Even if there is just enough to get the second nut on still give it a try. Most importantly work very slowly with it! That gets them 90% of the time for me, otherwise just drill them and use a good extractor and work slowly usually gets the rest of them. I probably fix 10 of these a year on work trucks since 2003 when we started getting them with the 6.0.
Great engine especially for the project, I always wanted to do this with my old so gt :)

Good luck :-D

If there is some of the bolt sticking out of the head what I do is just weld a nut that skids in the stud snug. Seams like the heat from welding helps it break loose from the head.

Thanks for the tips guys. I Still need to split the Trans from Motor and get them both power washed also. I did see atleast two bolts were snapped flush with the head

Well the motor is finally in, I more then likely won't use this pan, but atleast I will
Know I will have plenty of clearance with a new pan.

For shits and giggles, I got the turbo manifolds out and right off the bat, the steering shaft is nearly impossible to clear the manifold, not to mention the break porportioning valve would
Need relocated. The passenger side bolted up alright but the crossover isn't even close to clearing anything, I would have to relocate half the accessories for clearance and on top of that there wouldnt be enough room for a radiator let alone Efans... So right now, I hate to say it, I might keep it NA so this doesn't turn into a big headache and I get discouraged when spring hits and I can't drive it.

Just a thought, but I have had an idea for years of putting the turbo and I/C for an LS swap on one of our trucks in the bed of the truck. I know this has been done before on other vehicles, but I think with a cheap fiberglass bed topper and the use of a large junk yard diesel intercooler along with a good electric puller fan, this could work pretty good on your truck and solve a lot of the fitment issues. This would be even more so since you do not have to deal with trying to clear an AWD drivetrain. Several companies offer turbo kits for other vehicles that locate the turbos at the end of the exhaust train.

hes on this site somewhere, and supposedly there's a hole infront of the a2a in the bed for air flow..

Thought i read somewhere it had a hole and scoop under the bed maybe not.
anyway to the op nothing wrong with going na now and boost later, gives you time to save up for other things your going to need that people often overlook and do it right the first time then rushing or compromising because of budget..

Gonna do a big push to get the motor/trans mounted back in the truck by Saturday! Tonight I worked on finishing the frame notch for the oil pan

I also got the 2 broken bolts out of the head from the manifold. I ended up welding a washer to the broken studd, then welded a nut to that washer and sure enough they both came right out! I also got the oil drianing overnight so I can pull the pan tomorow and do the washer mod in the oil pump and change the leaky pan gasket. Tomorow also I have a lot of goodies arriving in the mail!
