Im running a little hot now w fmic, Anyone have experience w this problem?

At idle the truck will usually hit 200-210. I have a flexalite elec 2800 cfm fan and a 160 t-stat. As long as im moving on the highway the truck will stay between 175-185. Stop and go driving is between 185-200. Through a search i found an issue i might have, since i re-routed my heater hose to the top of my water pump from its original location on the rad. I did this because of limited space with my turbo. Could this make me run that much hotter? Is there a better rad from different year s10's and blazers that fits in the stock location? I have the stock rad, not using the tranny cooler part of it. Im not planning on getting rid of the front mount intercooler so if anyone who has experience getting the temps down has some ideas it would be greatly appreciated

I have the same problem but after tons of data logging, I decided the extra 10-15* was worth the FMIC.

What temps are you getting? The same?

Flex-a-lite black magic fan? Forget about it. You'd be better off with the stock fan.

The stock fan is better. The electric fan will run hotter.

I agree they are junk.. I have a front mount and also routed my heater core line to the top of my edlebrock wp and haven't had any cooling issues.. runs just as cool as it did with the stock crap on it and heater core line ran to rad.

I remember a while back someone I think it was denny was having the same issue except his was a 4" thick core that covered the whole radiator.. not sure how he made out with his issue but you might want to check out the thread or pm him, could be same or similar problem

I found several options in doing a search about diff elec fans but not so much in my situation. have any of you guys found an elec fan that is going to be better than my flexalite w a fmic? what are you guys using other than stock? I'd prefer to keep the fan elec.

you could always use a volvo fan

a fmic blocking a stock radiator with do that while in traffic, on the highway its negligible

Well, I removed the pass side bracket and ran a smaller belt w/out ac, tensioner. That leaves me with enough belt surface area on the watwer pump pulley for the load of the water pump alone. It would slip if i put a fan and clutch back on. Does anyone know how much, if any, more cfm the ford taurus elec fan pulls than the 2800 cfm of my flexalite?

On another truck that I had, I did the same thing with a smaller belt. When it came time to replace the belt, I took the smaller belt in and got a belt the same length but wider. Worked great.

How did that work? the serpintine belt has 6 grooves i think, any wider it would be hanging off the pulley's wouldnt it?

Re: Im running a little hot now w fmic, Anyone have experience w this problem?

Should my temps be rising up to 210 deg. at idle with a 160 t-stat regardless of the fmic?

I can understand while cruising it might block airflow but should it be any different at idle than a stock truck?

What does a stock truck temp rise to at idle before the fan comes on? And how fast at say, a light, does it go up into the 200 deg area?

At this point from what I gather my shitty fan cant pull enough through air both rad & fmic.

Anyone have a link for info on the ford taurus fan?

They say the ramchargers fans flow 2400 cfm. The cheasy flexalite i have says 2800 cfmand is probably hyped up. Do you have experience with the ramcharger fans?

The Ramchargers are proven fans not only here but on most other fourms as well. I personally feel the Ramchargers are prolly under rated and the Flex A Lites are over rated, not only in air flow but also in quaility (for sure). You just have to wire them correctly and use a quaility controler wich is true for any fan, not just the Ramchargers. I love mine.

I had a 3.5" thick fmic on my typhoon with a very high fill on the block with zero heating problems. But it was due to the Sable (same as volvo) fan. Get a larger fan on it.

At cruze I had 160-170 temps and at lights in 30C weather 170F.

Do you still have AC?
