Re: Insanely Rich Please Help!!!

(Ben the "Tuner"): My brothers syclone starts and idles. On start-up it idles around 14.7afr. About 10 seconds after startup the computer is commanding around 13.0 and the AFR is falling off to 10.0 until the motor stalls out rich. I am not sure what is going on, looking for advice on what I should log, and what changes I should look to make. Any help is appreciate

Make sure the harness grounds are connected and tight.....the ones at the t-stat housing are crucial and if left unhooked can emulate the problem you have.

Re: Insanely Rich Please Help!!!

The one Mean Face is talking about is right on the T-stat.. tan and black ground.. Could let the ECM think the Water temp is open (or very cold) Which would make it run very fat.
Un-plug the wideband when it start to run rich.
Strange that it starts up at 14.7 runs for that short duration of time.. I don't think that's long enough to go into closed loop.... IE.. it looking at the wideband.

Make sure the wideband numbers on your AEM gauge are matching the numbers on the laptop/Datamaster. If not.. adjust the tables to make them read correctly.
What size injectors are you using?
I've got a decent 65lb/hr startup for AEM wideband program.
Send me mail if you want to give it a try.

4 bolt, 030 over, TRW L2441, Eagle rods, Comp 415, Cometic, Vortec heads, Comp Valvetrain, Billet rails w/ RC750, Custon A2A, PTE 67mm, Synapse WG BOV, ATR headers and dp, Code 59 (Mario's bin), 8an line, Relocated fuel cell & battery, Aeromotive A1000 & Reg, AEM wideband, Turbo XS Knocklite

I checked that ground yesterday. Front right stud on the intake manifold, right? Right below the Alt. The AFR is about .3-.5 less than the Tunerpro.

Re: Insanely Rich Please Help!!!

We'll thanks to all that helped out and special thanks to Scott (UR50SLO). The truck wouldn't run right because the factory chip was not plugged into the Moates adapter. Something y brother or I never knew had to be done. It holds Afr now around 14.2-14.9 at idle.

Few more problems to sort out. If anyone has had these things happen or has any clue what could be the cause please let me know:

1. Idle is way to high, around 1700 rpm and the timing mark is all over the place. Sounds strong and clean but I have no idea what timing is at.

2. Check engine light flashes like crazy in synchronization with the farthest to the drivers side relay clicking. And it does it a lot.

3. Final thing is when Tuner pro is open and Aldl dash is open. The readings fluctuate between maximum, minimum, and "true" values (i.e. coolant temp 304.25, 217.53, 189.45, -28.65) And most of the time when this fluctuation occurs and the truck is running it sputters out and dies.

Our next step is to mod another ECM and see if that cures the fluctuation or any of the other issues.

ONCE AGAIN A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO UR50SLO!!!!!!!

Re: Insanely Rich Please Help!!!

Your Welcome... Glad that part was somthing simple..

I still think somthing is wrong with the injector drivers... .I'd sure try swaping out for the stock injectors/a non modded ECM.

I'm down here at Muncie Drag Way... well actually back at the motel right now.
Lots of diverse cars on drag week this year. Everything from a deisel bug to low 7second street cars.
If I get a break tomorrow I'll give you a ring.
Take care and good luck!
