Intercooler Pump question

So, as I am re-doing my plumbing, the 1997 shurflo pump decided to crack. Oh well, time for a replacement (going to get the lightning one, and I do have a question as reading posts on it, you need a ford fuel injector harness, does anyone have the part #?)
Anyways, looking at the set up (yes I did search this too), has anyone ever tried to mount the pump in a different location? Rather than to the stock location, I was looking at other locations, and what would be the pros/cons on this?

Re: Intercooler Pump question

I had a lightning pump that I bought off ebay for a while. It only lasted less than a year and the motor burned up on it. I tried one to see if it would pump better than the Johnson pump that I had on before. I reinstalled the Johnson and everything is good again. I also removed the metal lines and seems to be pushing better than before.

I put mine where the abs used to be. Mine was the big atr pump though so it had to move. As long as the flow is in the right direction than it doesn't really matter where you put it.

Re: Intercooler Pump question

It's a standard Bosch style injector plug (same plug that your syty injector uses). I usually just go to a salvage yard and cut a few off.

I've been running a Bosch pump for 4 years on my Regal, no issues. It's basically the same pump used on countless other intercooled setups (CTS-V, etc.). The ZL1 and ZR1 pumps are similar but flow more and cost buco dollars.

What he said; it's an EV1 style injector connector:

Intercooler Pump question

I have a 04 Lightning. I bought a Jabsco marine pump for mine and ditched the factory coolant pump. Circulates bout 30gpm I think. I wired it up to its own relay and used the factory coolant pump + wire to trigger the relay. It's been running for over a year now with 0 issues. It moves the water and its whisper quiet. Pump is rebuildable. $180ish for the pump though.
