Interest in tranny parts GP?

Thats cool to hear, the experience I based my inquiry on was dealing with a FORD AOD auto trans. I was experiencing weird shifts in my Thunderbird Supercoupe. I did some reading and found out it was a chronic issue on the AOD's transmission, <sarcasm> Apparently in FORD's infinite wisdom they elected to cast that valve body out of aluminum </sarcasm off>.

Gm did somthing stupid like that in the mid 90's to the 4l60e i think they changed the metal they made the valves out of and they came apart and sent crap into the rest of the tranny, not sure i just rember replacing a ass load of VB on mid 90's blazers (96-97 i think) when i worked with the trann guy at work while i was in school.

Good deal, Dave!
Let me know what kind of price you can get on those 5 pinion front and rears. I have the part number if you need it.
George

Front planet (24212177, H2 2003) 89.45
Rear planet (24218069, H2 2003) 257.50

Prices were from the local GM dealer and quoted by a bud that works in parts. I didnt ask cause he was busy when I called but Im guessing the above prices are cost + ~15%?. Dunno as I didnt write down what they "listed" for and only wrote down what he'd sell em to me for.

HTH..

Dave,
Check those numbers again.
That front planet number you gave is for a 4 pinion front planet with a sprag type setup. GM#24212177

Here's what I have in my Dacco cross:
Illustration # 121D Planet input assembly(front planet)
5 pinion type 4L65-E 2001-up
Dacco #77747B
GM #24218063
$96.82 from GM Partsdirect

Illustration # 137D Planet reaction (rear planet)
5 pinion type 4L65-E 2001-up
Dacco #77731B
GM #24218069
$195.70 from GM Partsdirect

I'm still working on it. Just taking a while getting all the correct part numbers together.

As far as TC's, recently heard that the hughes might be a good choice.

Any chance of looking into that one for a group discount. Pace performance is located in Niles, OH., maybe they would work with us on a GP. www.paceparts.com

George et al working on the gp parts list:

I've got an order with bulkpart.com for the 'must-have' parts on HuRyde's site. I also opted for the 5-pinion planetary (rear) that they sell. At $89, It comes in at substantially less than the GM version. But I don't know how they compare in quality. If anyone has any experience with it, please pass on to the group for consideration with the GP.

if you get a 5 pinion planet for 89 then you got some powered metal POS made in taiwain thats substantually weaker then the stock unit.

Got off the phone with Steve from BowTie overdrives.
$224 each with 5 or more.
5 units shipped to my door is $46.88.
My zip code is 45042 for you guys that want to figure your shipping costs incurred so you know you aren't getting screwed on anything(very important!)
I will only charge ACTUAL shipping to you guys. Remember there will be a TON of stuff in your kits so shipping for the whole shabang may be a little more(any ideas on how to ship these kits is GREATLY appreciated/respond privately so as not to get the thread off topic).
No cores needed.
They need no advanced notice because of the huge inventory.
Bad news part.
Can't use bonded steel pistons as it has a special machined overrun clutch piston that uses a square cut seal because the inner diameter where the shaft goes into THE DRUM is so huge.
No torrington bearing type reaction carrier shafts. There has not been enough testing for them to approve this part.
For this GP we will only be using a GM low roller sprag replacement.

ALERT!!!
DO NOT USE A BORG WARNER TYPE LOW ROLLER SPRAG(THIS IS THE ONE DOWN IN THE CASE). IT IS TOO THICK AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH CLEARANCE DUE TO THE THICKNESS OF THE SUN GEAR SHELL THAT COMES WITH THIS KIT. DON'T FORGET THIS!

5 pinion planetaries are just fine.

Don't send any money yet if you know my address. These are ONLY going to be offered as part of a GP. I'm not a business and need to keep this simple as possible.

Dave, I need to know if you still have that 4 pinion rear planetary I sent you a while back. If you do can you PM me? Thanks!!!

It's getting there, not long. I'll put out the list of parts this weekend and I'll post a followup with all the individual prices for parts.
As soon as I said syty, Steve told me he understood why I was so concerned about the low roller sprag

Let's see if this one gets messed up.
For all you folks that were interested,
the Torque Drive part of the GP has begun. We have room for 4 more.
Consider this a blessing as Brian Hartman called BowTie and gave them many reasons as to why they shouldn't sell to us. :-? They resisted his strongarming and stood by us and are willing to keep up the agreement on the gp. Please take advantage of this. I really went to bat to defend us so this could happen. At one time, I thought I might do this again down the road. After the stunt BH pulled this morning I won't be. It not worth it to have the community belittled like that. I can't tell you how good Bow Tie Overdrives has been to us on this.
Call me if you need more details. My phone number is (513)425-0293.
