interior short

for some odd reason when i shift the transmission from drive to neutral or from drive to reverse it blows out the fuse for my interior lights and idea on where the short could be?

Check brake lights. Try shifting without stepping on the brake.

anybody have a wiring diagram of the brake switch and lighting system? also is the brake switch located near these 2 white pins? (off the steering colum)

also these relays off to the right of the hood release cable what are they for? anybody know? trying to figure this stuff out

Relays look like wiper pulse and key buzzer. Leave them alone.
Start by looking at what got touched the last time you messed near the lights, rear bumper,steering,dash board,under the truck. What did you work on before this came about?

to tell you the truth the truck sat for a while then when it was put back on the road they just stopped working and everything started shorting. checked the fuse for the interior + guage lighting it its not even popped the fuse is fine. this is getting aggrivating im about to send it to an automotive electronic specialist.... is there a ground for the brake lights anywhere? or any ground locations yous can post for the brake lighting system??

check your fog lights they are on the same circuit i changed a bulb on my fog light and about 1 week later my fog lights don't work and i have no interior lights i take apart the fog light and find the wire is pinched and grounding out and popping the fuse,just something to check!

the indicator lights in the shifter housing might be grounded out ,a shorted wire
